There are a lot of things that you can say about anyone, but when it comes to Angelina Jolie, the first thing that comes to mind is humanitarian. She’s definitely been doing everything that she can to make the world a better place and it is something that, personally, I admire.
The actress has been doing press for her movie, The Eternals, and in an interview with People, she reflected back on the humanitarian and advocacy work. She spoke of a little girl on the Syrian border.
“This little girl came up to me and offered me some biscuits that she had in her pocket,” Angelina said. “Knowing what she’d come from, knowing what she was heading into, knowing everything she’d experienced, yet in that moment she wasn’t thinking of herself or everything she had lost.”
“She wasn’t sitting with self pity. She just saw me—I must have looked tired and she just walked over and thought to just be kind. That’s what makes human beings so wonderful.” she added.
What a moving moment that must have been. It shows the goodness of people and that is absolutely something that we need to remember. There are good people in this world and that we can learn lessons from the world around us.
“My spirit has benefited, my life has benefited, from being allowed to be in the company of people who are surviving very difficult things,” Angelina said about the lessons that she has learned and how her humanitarian work has affected her life. “It’s been a gift to me. I don’t like the idea that it’s some burden, that it’s so nice of somebody to go out of their way to help somebody else. It’s not. I don’t ever see this idea of charity.”
We’re inspired by Angelina and her humanitarian and advocacy work. What a beautiful story to share.
