When Friends had its reunion on HBO Max earlier this year, lots of fans hoped there would be subsequent news of a reboot of the show, or a film. Unfortunately, those hopes have been dashed for now. But in what seems to be the unofficial year of the Friends revival, we can still dive back into the beloved series in a number of other ways!
Watch the series all over again
Of course this was going to be on the top of the list! Now that the series has been put on HBO Max in its entirety, fans have the option of re-watching it from start to finish. Plus, now have the ability to pause it when you like instead of the original way we all watched it: frantically using commercial breaks to grab snacks, and running to the bathroom at breakneck speed before the show came back on.
Now you can peacefully binge at your own pace and rewind all of your favorite moments as many times as you like.
Play one of the various ‘Friends’ trivia games
Do you think you know everything about the show? Well, you have plenty of chances to prove it! Play with friends or by yourself with a plethora of trivia games all about the show and everyone’s favorite cast. You’ll have to seek out and buy some of these trivia games, but for a fun little start, BuzzFeed has one you can take right now.
And if you happen to run into a pesky little fact you’d forgotten, it might just be a sign that it’s time to go back and watch it all over again (again).
Play ‘Friends’ Bingo
While you may not be aware of it if you don’t frequent online gaming circles, the Friends bingo game hosted on Foxy Bingo makes for a surprisingly entertaining homage as well. This game surfaced not too long before the hype cycle for the HBO Max reunion really heated up, but it has since stuck around as one of the few sitcom-themed games of its kind.
It’s basically a themed virtual bingo room revolving around the show rather than a trivia game or anything of the sort, but it’s still a surprisingly comforting way to dive back into Friends.
Watch Aniston in her latest starring role
For those already watching, you know that (spoiler alert!) The Morning Show’s second season ended with Aniston’s character, Alex Levy, battling a health issue. If you haven’t yet, we highly recommend you start watching it until you get to the episode we were most recently fan-girling about: “Fever.”
Aniston’s performance is a world away from her portrayal of Rachel Green, but she still manages to draw you in (and of course if you grew up on Friends you won’t be able to help rooting for Alex!).
Watch LeBlanc in his!
While it may not be as high profile as Aniston’s new show, Matt LeBlanc had a second star turn on TV as well. He played an exaggerated version of himself in Episodes over a span of five seasons. While this isn’t who the actor really is, as the BBC got into in its interview with him, the show offers an interesting look into the character from Friends in an absolutely unique way.
Watch ‘How I Met Your Mother’ (with a theory in mind)
Many have referred to HIMYM as Friends for the next generation. Relatable and full of slapstick humor, both shows have been mainstays of comfort for many of us, now through multiple generations. But some believe there are even closer ties between the show. Glamour helped to spread a certain fan theory that connects the two in a bizarre way that will give you a whole new perspective.
Of course, it’s just a fan theory and certainly not real, but it will make you want to go back through both shows in succession.
Hopefully these fun suggestions will keep Friends fanatics sane even without more material to come. And if you have more ideas for what other things can tie to friends, or help save us as we find something else to fill our time, please share with us in the comments below!
