Rina is not my favorite person. As a matter of fact, I think she’s the devil half the time. I don’t see what Jubel sees in her, but then again, I don’t seem to understand Jubal half of the time. I think he’s too all over the place.
But I think it’s cute when he shows up to get Rina with coffee and being the dutiful boyfriend, wearing an ugly scarf, when they head towards the office. But Raina doesn’t make it down the stairs before she’s shot.
Jubal jumps into reaction mode. One thing I will say is that he’s experienced enough loss and pain. But he shouldn’t be on this case. Not at all. Just the other week he was on Maggie for being on a case when she wasn’t ready. And here he is – telling the team when they show up, that he’s fine.
Spoiler alert. He’s not. But Isobel’s leadership is also gonna come into question for me right here, because she shouldn’t let him on this case. Stand her ground. This is clearly not the place for him to be.
But Isobel listens to him. She doesn’t make him recuse himself. And like somehow, in a world where I don’t think she can make herself worse to me, she does. The team – I love that they are close, but sometimes I think that they let their emotions get in the way of their jobs. I know that it’s a hard thing to not do, we all do it.
But I also think that their emotions are not such a bad thing here, because they are extra motivated to protect each other. Only this time, I am not sure that they will be able to.

Solving this case will be important and the clues are far and few between. But sometimes, even though I love Maggie, OA, Scola, and Tiff, I love the people in the command room even more. They are able to find footage of a man who seems to be following Rina everywhere. That leads to them being able to track him down – cause facial recognition worked.
Castlewood… man they coming for you and they ain’t gonna stop.
The thing that is confusing is that he doesn’t seem to have any ties to the FBI. No ties to Rina. But he definitely was stalking Rina. When they track him down at a hotel, he’s not in the room. But as they set up a grid search for him, Maggie and OA run into him. His dumb ass starts shooting, not thinking that the FBI probably isn’t gonna handle that well.
Maggie and OA pursue, but don’t you know it’s Tiff and Scola to the rescue, blocking him with their car. I love the way these four come together. It doesn’t matter the case, doesn’t matter what is needed, they are going to figure it out and make sure that the bad guy is taken down.
Castlewood doesn’t know who he’s up against. When Maggie finds money on him, he acts very whatever about it, but that’s not going to fly. They know that he was tailing one of their own and they aren’t going to let him get away with it.
Well, they may not – but Jubal enters the chat and as usual, he’s not the smartest person, too driven by emotion. We all get that he likes Rina, but at the same time, like do better. Follow the rules. You aren’t helping her by doing stupid shit and compromising a case.
He’s not supposed to be in the room while Castlewood is being questioned, but he’s there. When Maggie and OA can’t get Castlewood to speak, Jubal is willing to take the attempted murder charge off the table for shootig at Maggie and OA.
Say what?
Okay, look… I get that people need answers. But at the same time, we all need to not think with our hormones or our heart all the time. Yes, I am an asshole, and yes I am saying be colder. Fuck, we have to solve issues and like soemtimes feelings get in the way.
And Jubel proves that shit really quick when he goes off on Castlewood when he wants a lawyer, Maggie has to pull him away. Isabel has to tell him that he crossed a line.
Castlewoods alibi checks out. He wasn’t the person that shot Rina. And if he had, Jubal compromised things by pressing Castlewood when he wanted a lawyer. He has to be smarter.
The team is able to track down Castlewoods movements and find video of him talking with someone. That person would be an ex-marie named Winters. Wait, what does he have to do with this? Castlewood and Winter were on a cell block together, but nothing leads back to the FBI. So why would they target Rina? And why when they try and look into Winters ATF case are the files only accessible to the ATF?
Talking about some interagency not sharing.
The thing is that Maggie and OA aren’t gonna accept the fact that the files are locked because of a case. An FBI agent has been gunned down. They want answers, and we can’t blame them. So when dude is like I won’t give you my files on Winters and then is evading questions – OA plays a card. He says that he knows his boss – served with him in Afghanistan. Sometimes we have to lie to get the job done.
We know that Winters has been spending a lot of time at a gun club and that the ATF is trying to get to him cause this club is flooding the streets with guns. And though the FBI says that they’ll try and get him away from the club, they know that the place that they can get closest to him is there.

Like all TV shows, you have to pay attention to all of the details. When Winters pulls up and sees Scola he takes off. One has to wonder, how did he know who Scola was?
A chase pursues – Winters even being brazen enough to run through a train stop, narrowly beating an oncoming train. OA, though I admire your guts, there is no need to try and out beat a train to try and get him. Your life matters and if you and Maggie get hit – we’re rioting.
The team searching for Winters is intense, but my heart stopped when Maggie was shot. Ok, look, fully aware that it makes for good television, but Maggie getting shot – nope. The writers do a good job of making what is like 30 seconds feel like 50 minutes as OA tries to make sure that Maggie is okay.
She’s not speaking. She’s down. There is a gun shooting at OA from a box. He can’t get to her. IS SHE OKAY? Yes, I was screaming at my television.
I really loved this scene and the scene after where you get to see a testament to the relationship between OA and Maggie. Sometimes I think that I want them together and other times, I am like their partnership bond is something that is so special and important to this series.
Over the years that’s what I have grown to appreciate about Maggie and OA, Tiff and Scola. Their partnerships. Yes, I am fully aware that earlier I said that they all need to stop being so damn emotional, but these four know how to control their emotions and get the job done. They aren’t Jubal.
Do I believe that OA would have been devastated if something happened to Maggie? Absolutely. Do I think that Maggie took that a little for granted? Yes. She doesn’t wanna listen when OA is like can we slow down, I thought I lost you for a second. He needed to talk about it – if even for a second.
No offense Maggie, but you have to think of others too.
Scola realizes that the case with the gun that OA shot down, that is probably what shot Rina. I love that he gets that and heads to her house and is able to find one, so our man Ian can figure out how it works. It’s then that we find out that the entire team is being targeted.
The gun runs off facial recognition. Their faces, as well as their families faces, have been uploaded and even their kids are being targeted.

Look, Jubal may be annoying to me, but he is a good Dad. He loves his kids. And for once, Isobel recognizes that she needs to send him out of the office and to Rina. Thank God for five seconds she knows how to lead. Because nine times out of ten…
Isobel heads to talk to Castlewood, needing to know who is in danger and what the reasons are. But Castlewood isn’t going to talk, because the person that him and Winters are working for will kill him. He will die.
And you know, if you are a fan of FBI, you know that there is only one character introduced with that reach. And that is Vargas. I think we all knew that he’d make a return eventually, but like also – why? Go away.
The thing is Vargas is a man that has so much reach and I have no doubt that he’s going to have reach, even behind bars. But the truth is, I was hoping for a new villain. But when Castlewood says that there is someone to fear – Vargas immediately popped into my head.
And don’t you know – after they find a guy at the gun club – because you bet your ass they storm that place and do some deeper digging, they can tie Vargas to everything. He was in the same cell block as Winters and Castlewood. And Vargas can scare anyone.
I had to laugh that the guy that they caught at the gun club was like in the interrogation room and Scola’s going all hard on him, and he’s like ya, i’ll talk easily. The look on Tiff’s face was fucking priceless.
What I didn’t like was that Isobel had let Jubal back in, after she told him to stay at the hospital. Yes, I get that he’s a Dad and wants to protect his kids, but I also think that he doesn’t know how to separate himself to do the job. I do understand that everyones family is being targeted and I would want to be there too in order to save them.
But Jubel is the one person who can’t separate shit.
Heading to the jail – Isobel and Jubal confront Vargas. And he’s never gonna give up on wanting them all dead. Which, knowing TV the way that we all do – we know that means eventually someone will die from him. We know that. But it doesn’t make it any less suspenseful.
When finding Varga’s hidden phone, they are able to find Winters. And as they try and take him in, he takes a hostage and Maggie offers herself up. But Maggie doesn’t get near him, because Winters is shot. And when he’s going to die, he wants to make his peace with God and tells Jubal where the boxes are with the guns that are targeting them all.
Vargas will never give up. He blames them for the death of his wife and son. We know that. So at this point it’s just a matter of what is next. And that’s the thing with FBI – you know that there is always going to be a wild ride and what is next will come, but there will be something and you’ll be on the edge of the seat for it.
OTHER THOUGHTS
This is just gonna be a quick rant about Jubel. The man needs to stop with his pity party and shit. He’s being a hypocrite and he’s gotta stop with the pity parties. This character can be so strong, but what they’ve made him – I am not a fan of. And I also get him wanting to orchestrate Vargas getting killed in the yard but like again dude – somethings need to stay in your head. Not to Isobel. Not to anyone. Just don’t say it.
