We’re back! The Rookie 4×11 “End Game” picks up where the previous episode left off as it explores a new adventure for Nyla and Tamara’s past. Time for a review!
Here we go!
In The Rookie 4×11 “End Game” we finally conclude the story between Bailey and her ex. She, along with Nolan and Oscar’s invaluable help, manage to get him out of the way. I am not going to comment on Bailey’s story with this pig because these stories are not to be discussed, they are to be heard and learned from, they are educators of how abusive and toxic relationships work, even at first, when they seem innocent. When a woman is telling her story, you just have to listen and support her and that’s what we do with Bailey from here.
What we do want to comment is that sometimes the system is unfair and frustrating. The pig who nearly destroyed Bailey’s life got a great deal and was only going to be in jail for a few months and she faced years for a crime she didn’t commit. In the end, the scale was balanced and the guy is going to be locked up for 8 years but we can’t help but think that not all cases are like this. In most cases, the scale doesn’t balance.

In any case, I’m glad to see Bailey smile again and to know that she and Nolan are moving on with their relationship. Will we see Nolan propose to her soon?
I like Oscar. I don’t know if it’s correct or not but, yeah, he makes me laugh.
Nyla is pregnant! I fully understood James’s reaction to the beginning of The Rookie 4×11 “End Game.” He was in shock, exactly like us and, besides, the moment was… strange. They were fighting and suddenly his world was turned upside down. They both love each other.
I mean, Nyla went there, to keep an eye on James, although she knew that it was going to get her in trouble with James but that’s what you do when you love someone, you protect him/her, even if he/she doesn’t want to. And James… was surprised but at no point did he doubt that he wanted to have this baby with Nyla.
And the final scene… that moment when James kneels gave me palpitations, I mean, I thought he was going to ask her THE question. But I’m sure that will come later, fingers crossed.
Amid so much happiness, I can’t help but see a gray cloud approaching. Nyla is pregnant…but how many weeks? Because let’s remember that she slept with her ex-husband on Halloween and she didn’t confess to James. Nyla doesn’t seem to have any doubts that the baby she’s expecting is James’s, so I’m not going to be the one to have them but…I’m aware that this is going to come out sooner or later.

In The Rookie 4×11 “End Game” we had the opportunity to explore Tamara’s past a little more. Sometimes, we forget that she lived on the streets before she met Lucy. Tamara is such a mature, brave, and strong woman that it’s easy to forget that her life was anything but easy. But our past always comes back to bite our ass.
A friend of Tamara turns up dead and Lucy wants to be there for her in every way. She wants to be there as a friend, as a family, and as a police officer. She wants to do justice to her friend and that, at least, Tamara has that consolation. And Lucy doesn’t know exactly how to do it. But sometimes you just have to be there, holding Tamara’s hand, so that she feels her presence.
Sometimes that is more than enough because you know that you are not alone.
Tamara didn’t exactly tell Lucy about her life on the streets but she must talk to someone because those experiences are part of her and she must learn to process them. If Tamara doesn’t, her wounds will never heal. Those wounds will never go away, but they can heal.

Tamara is aware of it and also, this reminder of her past, this murder of her friend at the hands of another friend of hers for a stupid reason has made her even more aware of how lucky she had the day that she met Lucy. Lucy welcomed her, trusted her, helped carve out a future for her. If none of that had happened, Tamara knows that sooner or later, she would have ended up as her friend Becca.
And if I already loved Tamara before, after this, I love, admire and respect her even more. You have to be very strong to carve out a future from scratch and also to thank the people who gave you their hand to help you.
In another vein, I see what you are doing in The Rookie 4×11 “End Game.” I see what you’re doing with Lucy and the new DA. After the condescension and sexism (that comment about sentimentality made me look red) with which he treated Lucy, my heart doesn’t soften because he did the right thing and offered a decent deal to a young man.
It’s clear that The Rookie 4×11 “End Game” is bringing Lucy and the prosecutor together to become a couple and I am not here for this. All I’m hoping is that something good comes out of this thing and we see Tim jealous.
The Rookie airs Sundays at 10/9 on ABC and will come back with new episodes on January 23.
