Pixar debuted a brand new look at its Buzz Lightyear origin story Lightyear with its first official trailer! In this closer look at the film, we hear Chris Evans say more than a few words as the titular character. Plus, it introduces a couple of the film’s other key players.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Disney confirmed that alongside Peter Sohn as Buzz’s robot cat Sox, Lightyear‘s voice cast includes Keke Palmer, Dale Soules, Taika Waititi, Uzo Aduba, James Brolin, Mary McDonald-Lewis, Efren Ramirez, and Isiah Whitlock Jr.
Plenty of those cast members, including Palmer, Waititi, and Aduba, took to Twitter to celebrate their involvement with the film. But, of course, longtime Chris Evans fans won’t be shocked to know he is still geeking out about this role on social media since he is not quiet about his love for all things Disney/Pixar. We love him for it!

Since this trailer is relatively short, we don’t get to see many of those actors at work, but the Lightyear trailer does give us a glimpse of a character Toy Story fans know all too well. That’s right; if you look closely enough, it appears as though the “massive robot” Buzz faces is Emperor Zurg himself.
Since this movie is about the man who inspired the toy Toy Story‘s Andy loves so much, it makes sense for pivotal characters like Emperor Zurg to appear in Lightyear. That seems like the most obvious connection between the toy and the actual Space Ranger. Pixar and Disney love Easter eggs, so there will surely be smaller details for fans to pick up on, too.

One essential thing this trailer keeps us on our toes with is Buzz’s iconic line “To infinity and beyond.” We are all clamoring to hear Chris Evans say those words; Pixar knows that. We wouldn’t be shocked if the rest of the trailer and teaser leading up to the film’s release also omit this line (or at least its completion).
The first teaser did just that as it teased us as they teed up the memorable phrase, only for the screen to fade to black before anyone could finish the line. It’s clever because it lets us fill in that gap as we wait, and we are impatiently waiting for this one. Pixar knows how to keep pulling us in, and we aren’t even mad about it.
How else would we want o kick off the summer than with a trip to space with this incredible cast?!
