From the producers of The Invisible Man comes a new adaptation of the Stephen King classic thriller about a young girl with pyrokinetic powers. Charlie, played by Ryan Kiera Armstrong, plays the daughter of Andy (Zac Efron) and Vicky (Sydney Lemmon) in Universal Pictures movie Firestarter. And for more than a decade they have done everything in their power to protect their daughter from those who want to use her powers for their own nefarious reasons.
At the heart of this is a shadowy federal agency that has no qualms coming after Charlie and her family. And that’s absolutely evident in the way they come for her as Charlie starts entering her teen years and finds it harder and harder to control her powers. But just because Charlie is young, just because she’s losing control, doesn’t mean that she isn’t going to fight for herself and her family; ultimately making us want to watch Firestarter when it hits theaters and Peacock.
But what really got us, what really threw us off, was Zac Efron. For many of us, he’s still that young kid from High School Musical. But here he is now playing a dad and we just can’t over that. It becomes even worse to process when we take into consideration how relaxed he seems and like this role was made for him. It speaks to the next phase of Efron’s acting career and how he’s settled into his own skin as an adult and actor. And we’re proud and can’t wait to see what his character is willing to do for his daughter in Firestarter.
