Olivia Wilde’s upcoming film Don’t Worry Darling is one of the most anticipated films of 2022. Since we were given our very first look at an 11 second clip last September, we’ve all been impatiently awaiting an official trailer and any other news we can grab. In case you need a bit of a refresher Don’t Worry Darling stars Florence Pugh and Harry Styles. These two definitely are what has us really desperate for this film but even more so is the curious premise of it.
A 1950’s housewife living with her husband in a utopian experimental community begins to worry that his glamorous company may be hiding disturbing secrets.
Annual film event CinemaCon which is like a trade show for movies has been happening this week and insiders have gotten sneak peeks at tons of amazing films that are coming sometime in the next few months and also some releasing next year. Don’t Worry Darling which thankfully is releasing this year was showcased during the panel of films coming from Warner Bros. Pictures. Olivia Wilde was in attendance and presented attendees with a snippet of the trailer for the film and can we just say we are green with envy.
While presenting the trailer Olivia mentioned that Don’t Worry Darling is inspired by films like “Inception, The Matrix, and The Truman Show.” That is quite an intriguing set of films and only has us even more curious about what to expect.
The sneak peek of the trailer according to Variety “opens on Styles and Pugh’s characters snuggling in bed. They play a husband and wife living in an idyllic experimental community in the California desert, lined with perfectly placed palm trees and fancy cars. “You and me?” she asks her husband. “Always. You and me.” Pugh plays a happy housewife, one who becomes increasingly suspicious that her husband’s glamorous company may be hiding disturbing secrets. He’s working on something called the Victory Project, which promises to change the world. “Do you even know what the Victory Project even is? Have you ever asked?” Pugh asks her dutiful husband. The more she starts to question his work, the more that people think she’s crazy. As she gets increasingly incredulous, she concludes, “I don’t trust him, and I don’t want to be here anymore.”
We really, really, REALLY need this trailer like, NOW. The official trailer for Don’t Worry Darling hasn’t been released to the public just yet, but Warner Bros Pictures did give us an official first look at the couple in a newly released still which you can see below.
Don’t they look oh so cozy and loving in that bed? Well, as they say looks can be deceiving and based on everything, we just told you, there will be a whole lot of deception going on in this film. Don’t Worry Darling also star Chris Pine, Gemma Chan, Kiki Layne, and Olivia Wilde. When the trailer drops, we promise to share it right here.
