A Quiet Place is getting a prequel and honestly, we’re down for it. Across two movies, John Krasinski has managed to create a world so interesting that we can’t help but want more. And we’re not just talking about the monsters. Those are super creepy and really give Stranger Things some stiff competition. It’s also about the characters, who are fully formed and so dynamic that you can’t help but watch, no matter how scary it all is.
So what’s the sequel, titled A Quiet Place: Day One, all about? Well, the aliens/monsters that have invaded our world and the first day of survival for those whose lives were changed by it. Immediately we can’t help but wonder if the prequel will tell the story about the first day of our core family members from the first movie. The sequel showed us their first encounters with the monsters but what if we’re allowed to have more time with our favorites?
Then there’s the thought that the Day One prequel will completely shift its perspective and tell a story from a city POV. Because cities are notoriously loud and personally, I have no idea where to get a bag of sand to hide my steps in the city. And I don’t think others do either. So that could be a possibility. Also, imagine a story in a multi-level building? Scary and the kind of horror story I do not want to know about.
Day One could also shift perspective by making it on a different social-economic framework. How would a rich person handle an invasion like this? Would they hire guards? Is money even currency anymore? They could also do it on the opposite spectrum and introduce a storyline from the perspective of someone who doesn’t have the means and has to fight harder than they’ve ever done before to survive the monsters.
Either way, we’re looking forward to more of A Quiet Place.
