From the creative mind of V.E. Schwab comes the official trailer for the Netflix series First Kill. It tells the story of two young women who are drawn to each other even when the odds are set against them. And when I mean they are set against them, I mean it. One is a vampire and the other is a vampire hunter. You don’t get more “forbidden romance than that.”
It stars Sarah Catherine Hook as Juliette Fairmont and Imani Lewis as Calliope Burns. And Felicia D. Henderson serves as the showrunner, executive producer, and writer of this sapphic romance. And thanks to the official trailer we’re hyped for the romance, action, and supernatural elements of it all. So, here’s a list of 5 things we loved from the official trailer for First Kill.
1. The way Juliette and Calliope look at each other.
If Netflix wanted us to ship these two after a teaser trailer then they did an amazing job. There is something about the way that these two look at each other that is electrifying. There’s fascination in this particular gaze below. And Juliette returns her gaze with the same intensity and passion as if to say, “We belong to each other.”

2. The multiple bed scenes.
We love that the trailer for First Kill isn’t holding back on the romantic side of things when it comes to Calliope and Juliette. They are in love, that’s just facts, and sometimes they express that love while lounging in bed and talking about their lives. And yes, sometimes there is kissing and we’re here for the sapphic love and angst coming our way.

3. The badass women taking charge.
I’ve only had Talia (Aubin Wise) for one trailer and I already love her. In fact, I love all the women that we’ve seen so far. They are dedicated, protective, and fierce women who will do anything for their families. And we’re particularly interested in how the matriarchs of these families will take the news that their daughters are in love. Drama alert.

4. The fact there are other creatures too.
Besides the sapphic love and badass women, this is what we really can’t wait to see. Sometimes shows like this tend to ignore other creatures. But Calliope’s family aren’t vampire hunters in particular. They are creature hunters. (We refuse to call them monsters because Juliette isn’t one.) But we’re excited for werewolves, demons, and the sort.

5. The return of Elizabeth Mitchell.
There is something about Elizabeth Mitchell that makes us swoon. We blame in on our Lost days and have zero regrets. And it’s going to be interesting to see how she tackles this role. Because it’s not going to be a black and white character. It’s going to be shades of grey with a need for blood thrown into the mix. And we can’t wait!
