Stranger Things is coming out swinging with the release of the first 8 minutes of season 4. In the clip below, we’re shown an idyllic neighborhood, houses perfectly lined up as a paperboy does his morning deliveries. One particular door gets the focus when the owner, a gentleman, picks up his newspaper and commences to do the crossword puzzle set on a timer.
And because this is Stranger Things, you know it’s not just anyone. It’s Doctor Brenner. Known as “papa” to many, he’s the villain in the story that is Eleven’s life. He took Eleven’s mother, twisted her about until she was a shadow of herself, and experimented on her daughter. And thanks to these 8 minutes, we know that Eleven wasn’t the only young person being tested by Brenner.
But back to the 8 minutes.
What follows is Brenner going to the infamous lab in Hawkins that houses the children and the rainbow room. He greets one child in particular and goes through a series of exercises to test his abilities before chaos breaks out and the child gets killed. Brenner eventually finds a bloody Eleven, asking her “What have you done?” And reminding us of how truly powerful this young woman is.
