It’s that time of year again! After an epic season 10, ATX TV Festival returns with a season 11 full of news, surprises, panels, and great conversations that bring us closer to our favorite artists. So that you don’t miss anything, we bring you the highlights of day 1. Ready?
Let the fun begin!
DAY 1
“Dark Winds” (AMC)
Dark Winds was the highlight of the day. The World Premiere screening of the show featured cast and creatives who held a Q&A conversation about the pilot episode, and what’s to come for Leaphorn and Chee, two of the show’s stars. The show already has us convinced. Representation matters and it’s time for procedurals to get with the program.
It’s brave to set this show in the turbulent times of the 70s but we’re happy with the courage of the series in wanting to immerse itself in the history of the time. Past and present come together in this show and the only salvation for our leaders will be to work together. But, can they?
The new psychological thriller from creator/executive producer Graham Roland is based on the iconic book series by Tony Hillerman. The season will premiere on June 12 on AMC and AMC+.
“Rutherford Falls” (Peacock)
The creatives and cast of the show previewed a sneak peek of their upcoming Season 2 premiere, and held a panel discussion with Mo Ryan about the exciting things to expect for this gem of a series. But… what to expect from season 2?
In Season 2 of Peacock’s hit-comedy Rutherford Falls, life-long best buds Nathan Rutherford (Ed Helms) and Reagan Wells (Jana Schmieding) help each other tackle work, romance, and major changes to their small town and the Native American reservation it borders, initiated by Tribal Casino C.E.O. Terry Thomas (Michael Greyeyes).
It’s always wonderful to hear a cast and crew so excited for the world to see their work and, to be honest, I never watched this show until ATX TV Festival but I’m a new fan! And that means a lot…
Can’t wait for season 2!
Rutherford Falls season one is streaming now on Peacock.
“Actor POV: Building Character” & “What is Pop Culture”
Two pieces of microprogramming, a new offering for season 11, brought together Adrianne Palicki and Arielle Kebbel for a 1-on-1 conversation about shaping a character from an actor’s perspective. The second, “What is Pop Culture,” saw TV heavyweights Daniel Feinberg and Chris Ryan discuss what makes it into the zeitgeist.
And…I loved it! It’s hard to get the actor’s perspectives on what their job means, what they went through to get where they are now, and how they approached their professional challenges. This not only helps us learn more about our favorite artists, but it can also help future artists who don’t know how or where to start. Good job, ATX TV Festival!
What a comeback!
Stay tuned tomorrow for the highlights of day 2 that comes with many surprises!
