Every time Marvel comes to Hall H for San Diego Comic-Con, it’s like Christmas all over again. Now, they’ve come prepared with a fresh trailer for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Starting off with Bruce and Jennifer figuring out the extent of her She-Hulk powers, it looks like Jen will master being a Hulk much faster than her cousin. Fortunately, she exceeds his expectations — just like we expect the show to exceed ours.
A NEW TONE FOR THE MCU
Set to be Marvel’s first 30-minute comedy, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will center around Jennifer Walters as she balances representing superhumans in court. This latest trailer from SDCC revealed for sure that Jen will be representing Abomination in court. Meaning, yes, you will need to do a rewatch of The Incredible Hulk to get a better understanding as to why Jen calls it a “conflict of interest.”
But, that’s not all she’ll have to face. In a new appearance from Wong, he tells her that “our universe is on the edge of a precipice.” Considering She-Hulk is meant to be the end of the first phase of the Multiverse Saga, there’s most likely more to what Wong means by “our universe.”
Despite the serious tone of 2008’s Hulk film, She-Hulk‘s tone is to be more playful. AKA the “Sex and the City of the MCU,” this series is much like the female-led rom coms of today. Jennifer Walters is already the Queen of Fourth Wall Breaking. However, her MCU rendition would join a plethora of women who already tell the audience like it is. Fleabag, Chewing Gum, and Persuasion have all used a fourth wall break to give the perspective of someone we wouldn’t otherwise understand.
We’ve already seen a Hulk have their origin story and not be able to really tell their side of things. Now, She-Hulk can tell us all she’s thinking and feeling. Sure, call it the M-She-U, but She-Hulk: Attorney at Law may give Marvel a chance to move away from throwaway jokes.
THE DAREDEVIL RENAISSANCE
We knew of Wong’s return after he was spotted fighting Abomination in Shang-Chi. What we didn’t know was that She-Hulk was going to set up much more. Daredevil is set to come back to the MCU. For just a glimpse, we see Daredevil swing into action in the She-Hulk trailer. And we could not be more excited!
Perhaps Matt Murdock can give She-Hulk some legal and super advice. He would understand her the best, right?
Fortunately, this won’t be the only appearance of Daredevil/Matt Murdock. Daredevil will have his own Disney+ series called Daredevil: Born Again. This is already on top of the news that he will appear in Echo. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will return to the small screen for an 18-episode run. Fingers crossed that more of the original cast return and that we see some other familiar faces soon. (I’m looking at you, Jessica Jones.)
