Marvel Studios Unveils Updated Timeline for Phase 5 and Beyond at SDCC 2022

It’s been a while since Marvel Studios has brought a line-up to San Diego Comic-Con, and this one lays out one and a half (sort of) phases of the impressive and ever-expansive MCU. The last time the President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, brought a long list of Marvel projects to SDCC’s Hall H was in 2019 in a post-Infinity Saga MCU.

With Phase 4 and the ones that follow, the MCU gains more momentum as its storytelling expands to the small screen with the world of streaming on Disney+. So, fans prepared for Feige to bring big announcements and sneak peeks to SDCC this year, and he did not disappoint.

Feige announced that Phase 4 (the MCU’s current phase) would end with the upcoming Black Panther sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Phase 5 will begin with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania on February 17, 2023, and end with the highly-anticipated Thunderbolts on July 26, 2024. While Feige has yet to announce what will kick off Phase 6, it will end with Avengers: Secret Wars on November 7, 2025.

Remember that Kevin Feige still has a Marvel Studios presentation to make at the D23 convention in September, so expect more announcements then.

Specific projects, like Agatha: Coven of Chaos, received title upgrades, while Daredevil: Born Again received exciting new details. The Disney+ original series, starring Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, will have 18 episodes. This project will break the MCU’s pattern of too-short seasons. She-Hulk and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever released new trailers to the public. Ultimately, Feige announced release dates — or windows — for an entire phase of the MCU.
