Roswell, New Mexico episode 4×08 “Missing My Baby” was an emotional one to say the least. We learned a lot and some major secrets were revealed. Most importantly, everyone, including Michael now knows that Alex is missing.
“No Matter Where In The Universe You Are, My Blade Will Find You.”

In Roswell, New Mexico 4×07 “Dig Me Out” Clyde pulled a fast one on pretty much everyone he’s met in Roswell. He set Michael, Max, and Isobel up by sending them to their death in an unexpected showdown with Tezca. Then he used Bonnie as a bargaining chip to get Dallas to hand over the bible and glasses that belonged to his father Theo.
Because we know that Clyde is now on his own mission whatever that may be, he reneged on his deal and put both Bonnie and Dallas in the alien quicksand. Once he had what he needed, he then torched the barn and went on his merry way. It’s clear that Clyde isn’t even working with Tezca anymore either. In fact, after what we learned in this latest episode, we don’t even believe he was truly with Tezca to begin with. His loyalty lies with Jones and always has.
Tezca has been all about doing what she has to in order to bring forth the alighting. She’s been following the instructions that Jones gave to her and has done so without question. Until now. Isobel recently learned that when she was a child, Tezca was her teacher. Because she has always wanted to know more about her past, and where she came from, getting that connection is a big deal.
Isobel’s power involves being able to see the truth, so she gives Tezca a glimpse of how their connected. Tezca doesn’t want to believe it, but she eventually relents because she wants answers too. She wants to know how she and Isobel are connected and why she can’t seem to hurt her the way she feels she is supposed to. It turns out that Tezca protected Isobel from Jones. Jones was planning to take Isobel, but Tezca sacrificed herself and Jones was able to lock her mind away and that ultimately lead to him deceiving her into doing his bidding.
Tezca is now more unsure than ever about her purpose, and we actually found ourselves feeling bad for her. She was taken advantage of by Jones so everything she’s done has been due to his hold over her. She’s feeling lost but we know Isobel will be there for her like she was there for her all those years ago. Tezca did reveal something, although we can’t necessarily say that it was something we didn’t already know. Tezca informed Isobel that Jones told her, Bonnie, and Clyde “Once you have gathered all the pieces, Liz Ortecho will bring the alighting.” As we know, Clyde has all the pieces. So, all he needs now is Liz. That’s his next mission.
“Be The Thing That Pulls Alex Back.”

Ever since Alex went missing, he has been trying to get in touch with someone. Maria has always been the best choice because of her ability to have visions. Because she no longer has them, the signal has been a bit shaky. Once Maria started getting weird signs, she thought it was her mother trying to reach out. In Roswell, New Mexico 4×07 “Dig Me Out” after Liz tasted this weird milkshake combo that only Alex liked, it finally clicked for Maria that the person trying to reach her was Alex.
Maria feared that Alex was dead since he was trying to connect with her, but Liz ran some tests and was able to figure out that there was nothing going on in her head to indicate similar changes like when she was having visions. That’s a relief to Maria because it proves Alex is alive. Just as we expected, Rosa shows back up in Roswell to use her new echolocation powers to help Maria track Alex down.
As we mentioned, everyone now knows that Alex is missing. Well, everyone except for Michael. People wanted to tell Michael, but Liz told them all out of it because she felt it would make Michael lose control. First of all, we understand what Liz is saying but we wholeheartedly disagreed with this. Alex is the love of Michaels life. Therefore, he had the right to know that he was missing.
Of course, Michael does find out when he shows up in the middle of Maria and Rosas search. He is livid. This causes him to lash out at everyone and he and Max get into a fist fight. We can’t say we blame him. That was a huge betrayal. What do we keep saying is the problem with everyone in Roswell? COMMUNICATION! If they would only talk to each other then it would save them all a ton of drama.
Michael feels completely helpless because while Alex has been missing, he’s been out with Bonnie and Clyde. As he put it “I was so consumed with finding a way home, that I lost sight of my home with Alex.” Spending time with Bonnie and Clyde caused him to lose his powers so even if he wanted to save Alex, he doesn’t have a way. Thank goodness for Liz though.
Liz stays working on her science stuff, and she was working overtime to come up with a cure for Michael and Max so they could get their powers back. While Michael wanted his back, Max did not. He and Liz get into a big fight about him not wanting his powers back and she tells him that he’s selfish for denying his powers. Max does not see it that way.
Max just wants to be normal, and he wishes that Liz would accept that. When he finally really opens up to Liz about why he doesn’t want to have his powers back, you can’t help but feel for him. Max feels pressure to be everyone’s savior when he has his powers so when he doesn’t, he feels a sense of freedom. Most of all, he can touch Liz without hurting her. Liz assures him that she’s just fine and no matter what he chooses she will always be by his side.
We know right now Liz is okay with Max’s choice but, we think he’s going to have to change his tune. More on that in a bit. Let’s get back to Malex.
While Liz was working on a cure for Michael (and hopefully Max at some point), she and Shivani revealed quite a few truths to one another. We don’t know why they were having this whole sharing moment, but it went too far, and it truly backfired on Liz. Shivani has been doing some very secretive work behind the scenes mainly to try and save her daughter Nicole. We knew from the moment she stepped foot into Roswell she was a bit sketch.
Shivani showed Liz that she had an old alien pod which was pretty much useless because it’s all dried up. This cause Liz to do the dumbest thing ever-she takes Shivani to the place where Michael, Max, and Isobel’s pods are. The reason she has to go there is because she needs a pod in working condition to get the restorative properties from it. Those restorative properties are what help Liz create the cure for Michael.
As Liz is pulling a sample from Max’s pod, Shivani observes how careful she is with it and somehow, she figures out that Max is an alien and that the pod Liz is working with belongs to him. So ya see? Bad idea taking Shivani down there. Sure, she was blindfolded on the way but she’s smart so we’re sure she could find her way back there if she wanted to.
Anywhoo, Liz is able to come up with an alien mist that when inhaled restores Michael’s abilities. That’s obviously great because he’s then able to help Maria and Rosa track Alex down. The thing that helps him reconnect with Alex is music. Specifically, the song that Alex wrote about his and Michael’s relationship. As Alex communicates with the piano, Michael joins in by playing his guitar. While they’re playing Rosa notices that the pendant Alex gave him before he left is lighting up.

He, Rosa, and Maria follow the light which leads them to Grant’s pass where Alex was trapped in the alien quicksand. When they get to the spot, Maria almost gets taken by the quicksand, but Max shows up just in time and both he and Michael save her. Maria notices that the quicksand has a glow, and she can see things in it that nobody else can. Michael immediately realizes Alex is down there and so he wants to go in after him. Max stops him and warns him he needs to think with not just his heart but his mind as well. They all need to work together to rescue Alex and now Bonnie and Dallas. They can’t afford to lose Michael too. It’s all hands-on deck and believe us, they will need them.
Purple Haze

Alrighty, back to the Liz and Shivani D-RAMA. With the newfound discovery and cure Liz has come up with, Shivani is feeling hopeful and she’s also in extra share mode. She finally reveals that she’s been keeping her daughter hidden inside of a cryogenic state. See, when we first saw Nicole, we were thinking she was in her own version of a pod. We were wrong. Unlike Max, Michael, and Isobel when they were in their pods, Nicole is dead, and Shivani wants to use Liz’s alien mist to bring her back to life.
Shivani accidentally (on purpose) took some of Liz’s alien mist and inhaled it. Now, she’s in this highly agitated state and going on about how Liz has this incredible power she can use to save others. Liz is worried about Shivani, and she should be. We don’t know what kind of research Shivani was doing before she met Liz but based on all the information, she somehow knows including that Rosalinda is actually her dead sister Rosa who was brought back to life, she’s been looking her up for a while.
Shivani thinks that if she uses the mist on Nicole, she can be brought back from the dead. Grief is a very powerful thing and Liz does what she can to try and talk Shivani out of what she’s even asking but she is dead set on what she wants. The alien mist has major consequences for non-alien people. We don’t know what those consequences are but both Liz and Shivani got dosed with it after Shivani chose to drop the glass and release it into the air. We’re wondering what’s going to happen to Liz and also what kind of affect this will now have on Jones’s plans for the alighting. Hey, who knows, maybe this will actually end up protecting Liz. That remains to be seen and it’s anyone’s guess at this point.
