So many people are writing about this movie as based off fan fiction – which hey, we’re not discounting that this is a thing. But all of the people treating it like that is a bad thing and well, it’s not. Fanfiction is some of the best writing that we have ever read.
And it’s given us closure on a lot of stories that didn’t end up the way that we needed/wanted them to.
The latest book that is being adapted is The Idea of You from Robinne Lee. The book is being adapted for Prime Video, starring none other than the iconic Anne Hathaway.
This is a big f**king deal.
If you aren’t familiar with the story, it is about, “Sophie, a 40-year-old divorced mother. Sophie’s husband Dan left her for a younger woman, and now he has canceled his Coachella trip with their 15-year-old daughter. Sophie picks up the pieces, braving the crowds and desert heat. There, she meets 24-year-old Hayes Campbell, the lead singer of the hottest boy band on the planet, August Moon.”
The adaptation will be directed by Michael Showalter (The Eyes of Tammy Faye, The Dropout). Showalter will also produce alongside Hathaway, Cathy Schulman, Gabrielle Union, Kian Gass, Eric Hayes, Jordana Mollick, and Robinne Lee. Jennifer Westfeldt will executive produce and pen the script.
Production on the film is set to begin in October.
We’re excited. This is definitely a film that we will be following from beginning to end.
