Star Family, Starman isn’t the only familiar face black in Blue Valley when DC’s Stargirl returns with 3×01, “Frenemies – Chapter One: The Murder.” The team will have to grapple with The Gambler’s reemergence, too.
The Stargirl Season 3 trailer highlights Courtney’s wish to “help the bad guys break good,” which will be valuable with The Gambler back in town and the Crocks living next door. Obviously, Stargirl isn’t playing it coy with the season’s “frenemies” theme.
Alternatively, the photos for “Frenemies – Chapter One: The Murder” leave the episode’s The Gambler plot a mystery. The drive behind his newfound lease on Blue Valley remains unknown. The Gambler may want to make amends, but the team is rightfully suspicious.
So instead, the photos focus much more on Sylvester’s return — not only to Blue Valley but to life.
Though it’s the most paramount, his revival is not the only Sylvester-related question Stargirl needs to address. Hopefully, if not in “Frenemies – Chapter One: The Murder,” Season 3 answers how Sylvester gets his Starman suit back when Courtney made her Stargirl suit from the original.
Nevertheless, the trailer suggests that Sylvester is living in the Whitmore-Dugan’s basement and justifiably concerned about, presumably, Pat’s supposed easy-going nature with the Crocks. The photos suggest it won’t be all drama all the time for the best friends. How could it be when Sylvester sees S.T.R.I.P.E. for the first time after the Season 2 finale?
As exciting as it is to imagine the JSA back on TV, Sylvester back to life, and the frenemies drama this Stargirl season has in store, the question remains of how the Season 3 premiere gets its name. Who is the unfortunate victim of “the murder,” and who is its prime suspect? Could it be one of the enemies-turned-frenemies, or are new antagonists (Mister Bones) making their way to Blue Valley sooner rather than later?
