Warrior Nun 2×04 “Corinthians 10:20-21” really went and turned everything on its head with a reunion between Ava and Beatrice way ahead of schedule. I thought I was going to have to suffer through some angst. We got a little though. So I’m grateful for that. This episode also opens up doorways to enrich the history and mythology behind this show. Because Adriel is up to something, Lilith could be his champion, and Miguel…well he isn’t Miguel. I bet $5 that he is Jillian’s son.
#Avatrice and Their Journey Back to Each Other

Personally, I know that I’ve been fed mostly garbage when it comes to LGBTQ+ content. I know this because Warrior Nun 2×04 “Corinthians 10:20-21” knocked me on my ass with the unexpected turn of events where Ava and Beatrice were reunited sooner than expected. This speaks of a show that is willing to take risks but is smart about the development of its blossoming relationship. It also feels like this show is aware of the stereotypes and bullshit we’ve become so used to that it’s unthinkable when we see something else.
Avatrice is something else. And it’s important to swoon over that all-encompassing hug while also acknowledging that they are going through their own personal journeys.
For Ava, she’s learning how to stand on her own. Maybe even for the first time in her life. Her mother took care of her as a kid, then that murderous nun, and then she fell into the hands of the OCS. Her investigating what Adriel’s goons were up to shows that she feels comfortable enough in her own skin and abilities to enter the fight. It’s not to say she’s perfect. She’s still got a lot of growing to do. But she’s on her way. And it’s important to applaud that growth.
Then there’s Beatrice. She went after Ava with a ferocity that I don’t even think she understands. That’s why she snapped at Camila and then methodically went after Ava. There was no busting down doors or surprises that any other show would’ve led to the LGBTQ+ character unalived via the Bury Your Gays trope. She had a mission, she needed focus, and everything else was drowned out. It speaks to her knowing that she has the skills and ability to make a change in her life. And she wants to do that with Ava.
I Support Lilith’s Rights & Her Wrongs

Look, I know that things might not be looking so hot for Lilith in Warrior Nun 2×04 “Corinthians 10:20-21.” She “might” be falling to the dark side. But if there’s anything that I’ve learned from this show it’s that it knows how to write complex journeys for women and to expect the unexpected. So while Adriel’s crusty self is preying/terrifying young women for his own needs, Lilith is probably 17 steps ahead. In fact, I think she’s going to milk Adriel for all that sweet information before challenging him or taking him out completely.
Wouldn’t that be an amazing twist?
Because right now, it’s all about leveling up the baddies on Warrior Nun. It’s not about Adriel and his bullshit, Father Vincent and his lies, or Pope Duretti and his grasp for a dwindling power. Honestly, it’s about teaching Ava how to defend herself and hone her powers, about Beatrice learning about who she truly is, and about Camila transforming into a full and capable member of the OCS. It’s also about Mother Superion trusting in her family and training Yasmine, because that was training.
And then there’s Lilith. Whatever is on the other side that Adriel is so scared of, Lilith is going to be strong enough to take that on. And her “siding” with Adriel is just a temporary measure or a necessary evil. Because she doesn’t need anyone to butter her up and try to make her feel special or like she needs to become the Warrior Nun. She’s already experienced that with the Catholic Church and her family. Now Lilith is on a new path where she chooses who she is without worrying about what others expect of her.
Hopefully, crossing my fingers here, it’ll be glorious.
Boy, We All Know You’re Jillian’s Son

For right now I’m going to keep calling “Miguel” by his chosen name. Because after Warrior Nun 2×04 “Corinthians 10:20-21” I am absolutely convinced that this mysterious man is Jillian’s son. Do I remember his name? No. Am I going to look it up and possibly spoil myself? That is another no. We’re going to ride this thing home and hope that our theory is right. Because that man went up like a newly popped glow stick that was juiced up by Devinium. I know that shit when I see it.
I’m even more convinced that he’s Jillian’s son after what we learned in 2×04 where Lilith went through the portal thingie. She was only in there for 7 seconds on Jillian’s side of things. But for Lilith, it had been hours. If it’s been months since the events of season one, then it’s easy to assume that he’s gone through it and grown up. Question is, how did he get back? How long has he been back? And why has he avoided his mother all this time? Oh, also. How did he know to seek out the Warrior Nun?
But the biggest question my fanfiction-loving brain is asking is…who trained you? Because you were lured through the portal by Adriel. I thought that he had a plan for you for his side. But there’s someone else who mysteriously trained him to survive that world, didn’t immediately spit him out like Lilith was, and set him on a mission to destroy Adriel instead? One, I’ve definitely read this in a fic. And two, who is this mysterious woman/baddie who has been chasing Adriel and his dramatic self for ages?
Warrior Nun season 2 is now available on Netflix.
