Yes, that’s right, a Zoey 101 sequel movie is happening, and we’re going to be honest here …we’re a little torn about the whole thing. Even though the name, Zoey 102, is kinda cute, the series, which aired for four seasons on Nick from 2005 to 2008, doesn’t exactly feel like it needed more. Though, then again, as a one-off, it might work, even with a lot of the original cast missing. Because isn’t that adulthood? You lose contact with your childhood friends and some of them don’t even attend weddings they should be attending!
Among those returning, Paramount+ announced, are Jamie Lynn Spears as Zoey Brooks, Erin Sanders as Quinn Pensky, Sean Flynn as Chase Matthews, Matthew Underwood as Logan Reese, Christopher Massey as Michael Barret, Abby Wilde as Stacey Dillsen and Jack Salvatore as Mark Del Figgalo. But, it should be said that Paul Butcher, who played Dustin Brooks; Victoria Justice, who played Lola; and Austin Butler, who played James, are not set to return for the movie, which “follows Pacific Coast Academy alumni as they reunite for a wedding in the present day.”
Not that we expected Austin Butler, in the middle of an Oscar run, to show up on Zoey 102. But hey, there’s always hope for Zoey 103?
Yeah, the name doesn’t work as well as they think it does.
Production of the movie has already begun, with a release date planned for later this year. This means that mixed feelings or not, this is happening, and we’re all going to have to decide if nostalgia is enough to watch it or if some childhood memories are better left in the past.
