We can’t imagine having to live up to a legacy. Sure, sometimes we imagine what it would be like to be famous, but we also treasure no one knowing our name. We can’t even imagine what it would be like to be the granddaughter of Elvis.
But Riley Keough does. The daughter of Lisa Marie Presley and the granddaughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley. The legacy is real.
And now, with her starring in Daisy Jones & The Six, with her singing, people want to know if she feels a pressure to live up to that legacy.
“I certainly wouldn’t put that pressure on it. I don’t know if there is continuing my grandfather’s legacy, it’s its own sort of thing to me. But it was a really fun experience for me,” Riley said when speaking to Entertainment Tonight. “I’m not a musician — or I am now I guess. I’ve been interested in film my whole life and so for me, it was more really loving to get to have a relationship with music in that way.”
When talking about music she added, “I’ve listened to music and my whole family are musicians and I’ve been around this world a lot and been on tour and all that kind of stuff, but I’d never really done it myself. So for me, it was more about my personal relationship with getting to play music, which was fun.”
If you aren’t familiar with the Prime Video series, Daisy Jones & The Six, it’s about, “In 1977, Daisy Jones & The Six were on top of the world; the band had risen from obscurity to fame, and then, after a sold-out show at Chicago’s Soldier Field, they called it quits; now, decades later, the band members agree to reveal the truth.”
Daisy Jones & The Six will premiere on March 3 on Prime Video, with episodes being released every Friday through March 24.
