There is nothing that I don’t love about this show, especially how everything makes me laugh. Laughter is the best medicine in this world and there isn’t an episode of How I Met Your Father that doesn’t make me laugh and also swoon at the same time.
This weeks episode is entitled The Welcome Protocol, which I admit, once I found out what it was, it made me LOL, because well come to think of it, it’s not as crazy as it sounds.
Jesse has invoked the protocol on a night that Val and Sophie are out. It’s the night where all of his friends have specialized roles to in order to welcome someone to the group. Jesse has only known a girl for a day and wants her to come around and invokes the protocol.
The thing about Jesse is he is a big believer in love and I can appreciate that. I can appreciate that Jesse doesn’t become jaded and that no matter what happens he keeps his heart open. However, I will say that he gives too easily and it seems that the only reason that he is that way is because he is trying to cover up something else.
I won’t stand for Jesse being with anyone so soon after Meredith, because he’s jumping into one mistake after another. He’s doing everything but really dealing with the one thing he should be dealing with – he’s got feelings for Sophie. He’s never dealt with his feelings for Sophie. He’s done everything to avoid those feelings.
The girl that he brings around, she’s great. Ellen, Sid, and Charlie all like her. She’s listening to their every comment, remarking on their every move. But she’s doing it in a way that uplifts them and makes them feel seen. She knows how to adapt to each and every person. But when they all admit to Jesse that they like her, he’s like well, I don’t.
And he invokes the emergency protocol. It just so happens though that as Ellen is coming to get him and telling him that their Mom is in the hospital, the girl gets a person showing up for her emergency. Jesse thinks that she’s lying also. His friends are embarrassed for him, but unsure of what to say or do. So, as friends do, they hide.
I absolutely adore Jesse and I think it’s amazing in this friendship group that they all support each other, no matter what. The way that they read each other, that they believe each other, and that they tell each other the truth, no matter what, is something that I absolutely love and respect.
But we’ll get there.
Val and Sophie are at a party, where Val has styled, what seems to be the worst actress known to mankind. She’s just rude AF and berates everyone. Val has found her a dress to wear, but forgot to tell the designer to not let anyone else wear it.
Sophie and Val do everything that they can to make sure that the actress doesn’t find out, but she does. This enables Val to help her revamp the actresses image, so that she doesn’t ruin Val’s career.
But the important thing in this situation is that Sophie meets a man and has a good time. He makes her laugh, smile, and forget her issues for a bit. When the two kiss, after he asks her on a date she turns him down.
Jesse admits that he still has feelings for Sophie, that he never got over them. He’s encouraged and decides that he’s going to.
Jesse and Sophie at this point are my end game, but who knows what will happen. We’re only in season 2 with so much more to go. Yet, I want to see a relationship build between these two. Definitely will be in for every single moment.
