This week’s 9-1-1: Lone Star was intense. Maybe one of the most intense episodes of the entire series. In “Road Kill”, Marjan fights for her life after Grant tracks her down, runs her off the road, and tries to murder her. Grant wouldn’t have known who Marjan was if she hadn’t saved Kiley from him. No good deed goes unpunished, right? There’s also a surprise twist at the end that none of us saw coming.

On the Run
Last week we all thought Kiley was safe from Grant after he was arrested. But Grant was released on bail the same day he was arrested. The SAME DAY. Can we talk about that for a second? How ridiculous is that? So of course Grant finds out where Marjan is and eventually runs her off the road into a ditch. She’s badly injured with a head wound that won’t stop bleeding, but before she can even get out of her car, a girl named Mouse finds her and needs her help.
Mouse was in the other car that ran off the road and her friend and his parents didn’t make it. Marjan takes Mouse and tries to find help for both of them. It’s not easy as Grant is determined to kill Marjan. A man stops and offers to help treat Marjan’s wound, gives her water, and says he’s going to call 9-1-1. Just when we thought everything was going to be okay, Grant shoots and kills this man. While Marjan runs from Grant, she ends up being shot as well. We really didn’t know what was going to happen as she starts to bleed out from the gunshot wound and gets weaker and weaker… but this is 9-1-1: Lone Star after all, and the 126 never give up on each other.

Marjan’s Rescue
The 126 knew something was wrong when Marjan was two hours late for her welcome home party. Judd calls Grace and after that conversation, they know Marjan needs help. Have we mentioned how smart Judd is? He knows his wife is the very best at getting information and being helpful in a crisis. While Owen, Paul, and Judd hop in the car to try to find her, Grace finds more information and with help from the rest of the team and Kylie, they’re able to save Marjan. But as Owen said, she saved herself. And thanks to quick thinking on Marjan’s part with the flare gun, Grant’s dead and can’t hurt anyone else ever again.
We love that the entire team waited for Marjan in the hospital while she was in surgery and that Owen decided that he was going in first with Paul. This is when we discover that there wasn’t anyone else with Marjan, at least not physicially. We learn that Mouse was Marjan and she was in a car accident when she was 10. So Marjan did really save herself. Back when she was a kid and again during this episode. She definitely is a hero.
Natacha Karam really deserves an award for her performance this week. She was absolutely amazing as Marjan.

Other Thoughts:
- The police officer who saw Grant parked on the side of the road didn’t even ask for Grant’s license or registration. Grant’s story definitely sounded suspicious but the cop didn’t seem to question it. He probably would have been murdered, too, so it wouldn’t have done any good, but isn’t a cop supposed to investigate suspicious activity? Obviously not all copys are as good as Carlos.
- We laughed when Tommy said the 15 minutes that her daughter was on stage during her ballet recital were magical. The 3 hours after that? Not so much. We feel like most parents can relate.
- TK and Carlos realize how lucky they are that Owen isn’t planning their wedding anymore. Look how overboard he went with Marjan’s welcome home party. We had no idea there were so many types of canapies.
