Martin Scorsese has a new project! On this occasion, the famous director is committed to Spanish cinema and will act as executive producer of Escape, a film that will not leave anyone indifferent. Ready?
Here we go!
I’m Spanish, so when I saw the news that Martin Scorsese will executive produce a Spanish-language film — the second for Rodrigo Cortés — I screamed. And you can’t blame me. I’m proud!
Once the moment of euphoria has passed, let’s analyze the news. According to Variety, Martin Scorsese is joining Escape, the second Spanish-language film by writer-director Rodrigo Cortés. Closing the team behind the scenes, Adrián Guerra and Núria Valls will act as producers.
Escape is configured as a free adaptation of the novel written by Enrique Rubio. The film tells the story of N., a young man who wants to live in prison and will do whatever it takes to get there – raising questions such as if those who care about him will manage to stop him from committing increasingly serious crimes and how far will a judge go to not grant him his wish.
Escape is set to go into production at the end of May and will star one of the most recognized actors in the country, Mario Casas. In this adventure, he will be accompanied by other heavyweights of the Spanish film industry such as Anna Castillo, José García, Guillermo Toledo, Josep Maria Pou, Blanca Portillo, and José Sacristán.
We are definitely in!
