Here we go!
According to Variety, Lashana Lynch is set to star, opposite Eddie Redmayne, in the Sky and Peacock series adaptation of Day of the Jackal.
Day of the Jackal is based on Frederick Forsyth’s novel of the same name, which was already adapted for the big screen in 1973. In this case, the series is intended to be a bold and modern reimagining of the beloved and respected novel and film.
This contemporary drama will stay true to the DNA of the original story while delving into the chameleon as an “anti-hero” at the heart of the story in a high-octane, cinematic, globe-trotting “cat and mouse” thriller, set amidst the turbulent geopolitical landscape of our time.
Redmayne will play the legendary assassin The Jackal, while Lynch will play Bianca, a tenacious law enforcement officer determined to catch The Jackal.
As for the behind-the-scenes team, Ronan Bennett will be in charge of the adaptation’s script, while Brian Kirk will take the directing controls. Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant will serve as executive producers along with Redmayne.
Lynch will co-executive produce. Sam Hoyle will also serve as executive producer, while Forsyth is on board as a consulting producer. Christopher Hall will produce.
The series will be available on Peacock in the US and on Sky in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. NBCUniversal Global Distribution will handle international sales for the series. Production is scheduled to start at the end of the year.
