When we watch the trailer for The Crowded Room, we’re just spent. We can’t even imagine what the series will be like, because just watching the trailer, as we said, is a lot.
We can’t even imagine what it would be like to have acted in the series, because having to portray these people and really draw from a place that you never thought you’d have to, feels like it would be overwhelming. It would place a lot of pressure on ones brain.
Tom Holland has been doing a lot of press for The Crowded Room and did talk about how the show took its toll on him.
“The show did break me,” Tom revealed when speaking with Extra. “There did come a time where I was sort of like ‘I need to have a break,’ I disappeared I went to Mexico for a week and had some time on a beach and lay low and I’m now taking a year off.”
“I’ve been seeing my family. I’ve been seeing my friends. I’ve been playing golf. I’ve been, you know, going to the garden center and buying plants and doing my best to keep them alive and all that sort of stuff. I’ve just been trying to be, you know, regular bloke from Kingston and just relax.”
We’re all about time off and taking moments to really do some self care. It’s so important in todays world and to recognize within ones self that they need to do.
When talking about why he took on the role, he went on to say, “I just really agreed that it was time to tell the story about mental health — mental health that is brought on by trauma. And educate some people into how crazy it can be and how your mind is so powerful — it can work for good, and it can work for bad — and it just really resonated with me.”
“Most importantly, I’m hoping that [audiences] feel like they are somewhat educated in a topic that has this stigma, that we do need to change, we do need to talk about the powers of mental health. And hopefully this show can be a stepping stone in the right direction,” Tom added when speaking about The Crowded Room, which premieres today, June 9 on Apple TV+.
We’re so proud of him for taking time for himself and putting his mental health first. We can’t even imagine what a draining shoot this was, but we’re so thankful that stories about mental health are being told, so we’re thankful to the actors that are putting themselves out there to tell these stories.
