Stranger Things just announced the addition of Linda Hamilton for season 5 and honestly, it’s perfect. For those not in the know, Hamilton is an absolute icon who helped pave the way for badass women in film with her role as Sarah Connor in The Terminator movies. But it’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day where you saw a woman that would do anything to protect her son and became a symbol of feminine strength, rage, discipline, and physicality.
Hamilton’s addition to season 5, which just so happens to be the final one, feels like fate.
Last we left off, the Upside Down started to leak into our world. And Eleven, played by the immensely talented Millie Bobby Brown, has her biggest fight ever coming right for her. A fight where she is going to try and protect everyone as much as she can while also accepting that she isn’t alone in this fight anymore and that the only way they’re going to do this is by working together.
Because of that, I think that Eleven is going to need a mentor. She is going to need someone that has fought the monsters and survived. And what better actor than Hamilton? Seriously, any time you see her on screen she has a presence about her that you know everything is going to be ok because she’s around. And you don’t cast Hamilton to just be a side character. You cast her to kick ass, take names, and help guide the next generation of feminine strength and rage.
That’s why Linda Hamilton is such a perfect addition to Stranger Things season 5. And why we can’t wait to see who her character is…whenever this show starts production again of course.
Just this May, the Duffer brothers announced that season 5 would be delayed. In a tweet from the writers room, they said, “Duffers here. Writing does not stop when filming begins. While we’re excited to start production with our amazing cast and crew, it is not possible during this strike. We hope a fair deal is reached soon so we can all get back to work. Until then — over and out. #wgastrong”
Stranger Things season 5 is expected to be released summer of 2024.
