This piece was written during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strikes. We stand with the SAG-AFTRA. Without them, the movies and television shows we cover would not exist.
The AMPTP’s refusal to offer both writers and now actors a fair deal has left holes in the Fall schedules that broadcast networks like ABC are struggling to fill, and hey, maybe by mistake, they’ve stumbled upon the idea of nurturing and actually promoting their very own shows. Who would have thought?
Case in point, Ms. Marvel, which is now set to make its broadcast debut on ABC. The episodes will air on back-to-back Saturdays, with the first three episodes on Saturday, Aug. 5, and the final three on Saturday, Aug. 12, from 8:00-11:00 ET/PT.
Here’s the official synopsis for Ms. Marvel:
Marvel Studios’ “Ms. Marvel” is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero megafan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is, until she gets superpowers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with superpowers, right?
