SDCC 2023 may look a little bit different because of this whole situation with the AMPTP refusing writers and actors a fair deal, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still plenty of things to see and do. Take, for example, AMC’s Anne Rice Immortal Universe fan experience and activation. It’s inspired by the network’s TV adaptation of Interview with the Vampire and the Mayfair Witches. So, expect that early 1900s New Orleans vibe when you drop by what used to be the Hilton Gaslamp Terrace.
These types of experiences are always some of the most exciting parts at San Diego Comic-Con, especially since they usually look great even from the outside while you schlep from one attraction to another. This dedication to all things Anne Rice is no exception. Seriously, check out the gorgeous artwork of our beloved Louis (Jacob Anderson) and his blood-spattered white mask.

According to the press release, the Hilton Gaslamp Terrance is now “The Street of Immortality.” When you visit, you’ll be met with “a New Orleans-inspired immersive experience, which features several photo and video opportunities along the route, including iconic locations from Interview with the Vampire such as Hotel Iberville and Nawlins Records.” The free experience is open from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time, Friday through Sunday, July 21-22.
Additionally, as all the best SDCC attractions do, this activation offers some exclusives. Oh! And, if you dare, you might even want to sample “The Elixir of Immortality.”

A trip to the Théâtre for Season 2? Please!
But! Here’s what made your local Interview with the Vampire obsessed fangirl scream when she saw it: If you really pay attention, you might just find hints of what’s to come. Anyone who knows Anne Rice’s tale of tortured things that go bump in the night know all about the Théâtre des Vampires. And what’s all around this fan activation? Artwork that gives off the impression of a theatre program. A Playbill, if you will. Even the whole look Louis is sporting with that white mask kinda screams “Phantom of the Opera, but make it Interview with the Vampire.”
But, and here’s the most deliciously damning bit of all: actual posters with Rashid’s Armand’s infamous haunt’s name plastered across them.
Look! Admire! Freak out! If this is what we get as a teaser, just imagine how epic the actual show is going to be. (Once everyone gets a fair contract and gets back to work as usual, of course.)

…but, even in all the excitement, please do not get fooled. That theatre is not a place where you want to volunteer for audience participation. You’re probably safe during the SDCC 2023 fan experience hours. After all, the sun should be out to provide you some cover, at least. But, then again, some vampires aren’t as vulnerable as others. So. Be careful! Drink that elixir and immerse yourself in this world…but do it responsibly, ok?
If you think we’re not going to be obsessed with this until whenever everyone has a fair deal in place, production resumes, and the new batch of episodes finally drops, you really haven’t been paying attention. But if you have been paying attention, come fangirl with us. And definitely stay tuned for any and all news we get between now and…whenever.
What are you looking forward to at SDCC 2023? Are you going to drop by the activation? And are you as ready for Interview with the Vampire Season 2 as we are? Leave us a comment!
