We have said this a lot, and it always bears repeating: sometimes, all you need to do is shut up. Shutting up is free. Your opinion is not a gift to the world. You don’t need to offer it to everyone, all the time. A lot of celebrities, of course, don’t understand that. Stephen Amell has always been one of those.
This time, Amell decided to talk about the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. He is, of course, a member of SAG-AFTRA, which means he is currently on strike. But he, of course, had to make sure everyone knew he doesn’t personally support the strike. It was very important we know, you see.
Video is below, but the quote, just in case you need to read it to believe it, goes like this:
“I feel like a lot of people in this room aren’t aware of the strike,” he started, which who? “I support my union. I do, and I stand with them. I do not support striking. I don’t. I think that is a reductive negotiating tactic.” Talk about equivocating “I find the entire thing incredibly frustrating. And I think that the thinking as it pertains to shows like the show that I’m on that premiered last night, I think it’s myopic…”
Look, we get it, Amell probably thinks people care about Heels Season 2 more than they care about the future of the entire industry, but Newsflash — no one does. Really, no one. It’s just you, dude. Good luck with that.
The rest of us will be here supporting the WGA and SAG-AFTRA and probably not you after this.
