This piece was written during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strikes. We stand with the SAG-AFTRA. Without them, the movies and television shows we cover would not exist.
There is nothing that will hit the heart like needing to be there for a child. There is nothing that will have us crying like the story of needing to save a child’s life. So yes, Ordinary Angels has us crying our eyes out as a father does everything that he can to save his little girl.
We’re not always religious, but what we do believe in is the power of community. The power of community to be there for each other. The power of community to be angels.
And this movie, well, it’s showing us just how powerful community can be. In Ordinary Angels, “Sharon (Hilary Swank), a fierce but struggling hairdresser in small-town Kentucky who discovers a renewed sense of purpose when she meets Ed (Alan Ritchson), a widower working hard to make ends meet for his two daughters. With his youngest daughter waiting for a liver transplant, Sharon sets her mind to helping the family and will move mountains to do it. What unfolds is the inspiring tale of faith, everyday miracles, and ordinary angels.”
Ordinary Angels stars Hilary Swank, Alan Ritchson, Nancy Travis, Tamala Jones, Drew Powell, Amy Acker, Skywalker Hughes, and Emily Mitchell. The movie will open in theaters on October 13, 2023.
