Ryan Reynolds legitimately looks like one of the only actors in Hollywood who is truly having fun. No matter the project, he’s down for being weird, taking risks, and trying things the Van Wilder version of him never would. Because at that time he was stuck in what Hollywood thought he should be. He’s no longer stuck. And John Krasinski’s IF is proof of that.
In the first official trailer, we dive into a world where a select few can see imaginary friends aka IF’s. Reynolds just so happens to be one of them and along the way he meets a girl, played by Cailey Fleming (The Walking Dead), who also can see them. They then embark on an adventure to reconnect the imaginary friends with their children and find them a home after being abandoned and alone for so long.
IF is giving family fun feels with all these creative imaginary friends like a melting marshmallow, banana, and big purple fluffy monster voiced by Steve Carell. But it’s also giving off the same vibe Disney movies get aka where they lure you into a false sense of security before smacking you in the face with existential feels about life. And personally, I’m ready for it.
