Look, we’re not saying that making things that have to do with a movie without permission is a good thing, but we’re also aware it happens. Some celebrities handle it with class and some handle it with no class.
Maybe it’s just that Jacob Elordi comes across like he’s above everything. But his response to the viral candles that took inspiration (and yes, we’ll say inspiration, because we can) from Saltburn to make something called Jacob Elordi’s Bath Water was …something.
Look, we seriously doubt that it smells like his bathwater, or smells like that scene in Saltburn that we can’t talk about without wanting to gag. But, still. Like, we gotta respect the hustle.
Elordi, who is hosting Saturday Night Live this week was on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon and was asked about the candle.
“Cailee, my co-star from Priscilla, actually sent me the videos of people doing this. I want to know who’s making the money, you know? My first thing was like, ‘Great, where’s my money?’” Jacob responded when asked.
Now that whole response, though we’re praying that he’s joking and being somewhat funny (even though it’s not). But the first response being about money leaves a sour taste. Yes, a celebrity has a right to protect their brand. Yes, a celebrity has a right to protect themselves. But let’s be real, that response feels icky after his comments about The Kissing Booth. We do not doubt that for him, it’s all about the money.
He did smell the candle when asked. At least he didn’t take issue with the smell. It smells like, “Like detergent. His clothes are clean.”

It’s a joke. You can tell by how much the audience and Fallon laughed.
