Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire returns us to a world familiar to millions of fans. With it comes expectations as to what should happen, or more importantly, what we want to happen. That’s where I come in. Here are 5 things we’re hoping from this frozen adventure in NYC.
1. Sigourney Weaver to return.
If Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire has the nerve to bring back Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts, they better bring Sigourney Weaver. She was a keystone character in both of the first movies and she absolutely helped balance out Peter Venkman’s audacity. I said, what I said. Venkman was better with Dana by his side. Plus, I think she could take down her own ghosts.
2. More descendants or family to join the gang
As much as I love Phoebe, Trevor, and Callie, I would love to see more descendants or family in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Egon isn’t the only one who had kids or family. And if there’s a little diversity thrown in the mix, I wouldn’t mind either, especially if there are some Latine family members. Because we’re not just sitting by and letting the spookies get us. We get them.
3. More of Callie.
Carrie Coon‘s Callie was the highlight of Ghostbusters: Afterlife. She was an absolute mood who spoke her mind, did what was best for her mind, and was a hot mess half the time. I appreciate a hot mess. And she was the #1 reason why I ended up crying at the end of this movie. Now it’s time to see what she does next now that her legacy is right in front of her and part of her kid’s lives.
4. Empire State Building size Stay Puft Marshmallow Man
The Stay Puft babies in Ghostbusters: Afterlife were cute and diabolical. But that’s where it ends. What Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire needs is the plus-size Stay Puft. I would love to see Phoebe, Trevor, and Callie experience what their family did. Plus it was my favorite part of the original movie and I feel like more newcomers need to experience it.
5. More women Ghostbusters
Just because the all-female Ghostbusters team-up movie was a bust, doesn’t mean that we can’t try again or bring in more women as part of the team. And I’m talking about more than Callie and Janine. Plus there’s no way that women aren’t out there taking care of ghosts. They’re not waiting for the Ghostbusters to take care of things. They are the heroes.
