Paramount+ has released a teaser for Evil Season 4, but it’s not like we can really celebrate it the way we thought we would. Because just like with so many other shows we love, this spooky, dramatic, heartbreaking, funny, supernatural, mundane, thoughtful, silly series has been canceled. You might even say “The Demon of The End” cursed us or came back for revenge…or whatever. It even seems like the damned thing wants us to be grateful for the mercy of our four “bonus” episodes. Which, ugh. Ok. Fine. We are grateful to get whatever we can get, and we know they’ll be amazing. But come on. Can we please just have nice things? For once?
Actually, if there is any silver lining to this news from The Demon of the Streaming Era (too on the nose?) it’s that Evil won’t be getting dragged out until the series is well past any sense of originality or quality. But let’s be real: That was not likely to happen anytime soon. And even if it did…have y’all seen how long a lot of procedurals last? Because, last we checked, this show had that — in a very X-Files kind of way…but better. Much, much better.
But ok. Fine. Enough kvetching. At least Season 4 isn’t suddenly bringing Stephen Amell in for an unwanted spinoff or something. (Now, there’s a bonus…)

In a perfect world where the good news wasn’t accompanied by the hellish news of Evil being canceled on us, we’d probably be cracking jokes about how the first line in the teaser, “I want to go back to normal,” is upsetting after the past few years. Or, perhaps, we’d be demanding answers about the whole Kristen/Sheryl/Leland/demon baby thing. And we’d most definitely be like, “hm. We see a lot of Katja Herbers (good) but not as much Mike Colter as we’d expect (bad). Needs way more blessings from Father David.” (Should we be worried?) But, in spite of the bad news, we’re still beyond impatient to see what Kristen’s unhinged cackle is all about.
Also, it probably goes without saying that we need Andy to go, like…away so that something can, somehow, happen…right?
At any rate, we can’t wait to see how it all ends. And we’re sure the Kings, and this cast, will utterly nail it. As always. We just wish we weren’t going to have to say goodbye quite so soon. That’s all.
