A double dose of Jamie Dornan, you say. Sign us up. Deadline has revealed that Dornan is set to deliver double trouble in a new role, and we’re pretty excited about it. The Irish actor will play identical twins in the new Netflix UK Drama The Undertow. Yup, you heard that right. Jamie Dornan is going to be playing twins.
This writer, an identical twin herself, cannot wait for this. According to Deadline, The Undertow is a crime noir series based on the Nordisk Film Production AS show Twin, created by Kristoffer Metcalfe. Dornan will play twins Adam and Lee. The premise sounds incredibly interesting. Suffocating in a loveless marriage to Adam, Nicola’s (Mackenzie Davis) life takes a dramatic turn when Adam’s long-estranged identical twin brother Lee comes crashing back into her life, and their tangled romantic past threatens to destroy the present.
We love a good drama, and it sounds like The Undertow will be full of it. Based on the premise, it seems that Nicola and Lees’s relationship might have been the one that came before she married Adam. And if Nicolas’s marriage to Adam is loveless, then it’s evident that things will get messy when Lee shows up. We’re here for all the mess. We know Dornan can bring all the drama, and if you have seen him in The Fall, you know he’s pretty good at playing two different guys. Granted, he was one guy in The Fall, but the guy he played had two distinct personalities. That being said, we have no idea what the relationship is like for Adam and Lee, but we are curious whether this will have a tragic ending.
Filming for The Undertow is set to begin later this year in the Scottish Highlands. In addition to Dornan and Davis, the series also stars Iain De Caestecker and Gary Lewis. Sarah Dollard, Hanna Jameson, Scout Cripps, Kam Odedra serve as writers on the series. Jeremy Lovering will direct and executive produce alongside Dollard. The series is produced by Complete Fiction and wiip.
