5 Benophie Fics To Read As We Prepare for Benedict’s Turn

Bridgerton Season 3 is almost here. Unlike Bridgerton Book 3, titled An Offer From a Gentleman, Benedict Bridgerton’s story, Season 3 will not focus on the second eldest Bridgerton brother. Instead, the show is skipping Benedict and telling Colin’s love story with Penelope Featherington first, as depicted in Book 4, Romancing Mr. Bridgerton.

What does that mean for Benedict? The jury’s out on that. Common sense indicates he should be next. He is not only the oldest sibling still unmarried, but he also seems to be in a place where there’s very little the show could do with him other than, well …give him his love story. This is, after all, a romance show. Every sibling gets a turn and all.

Either way, Colin and Penelope are coming first, so that means that we have to do something to pass the time until Benedict’s season (whenever that comes). And that’s where fanfic can become our saving grace. So, without further ado, here are 5 Benophie (yes, that’s Benedict’s canon ship, we’re just waiting for Sophie Beckett here and Sophie Beckett alone) fics to read as we wait for Benedict’s turn.

Benedict and Sophie from an outside POV, but being so oblivious and so perfectly in love with each other that the only thing that could make this fic better would be …more. I’m a sucker for fics that explore how other people see couples, because we are, after all, other people! And this is so perfectly written and so good at capturing the dynamics of Benophie and why they work so well.

Again, Benophie but with Sophie and Kate? How is this fandom so good at focusing on the women? I say this not as a complaint! No, I absolutely love it. In fact, I love the idea behind this fic so much that I hope Bridgerton Season 4 can do something similar. This is what fanfic is all about.

A Benophie story that is also a Brigerton family story, this one hits all the right notes. Because what’s the appeal of Bridgerton if not the family aspect? And Season 3 is already going to give us a Penelope who is going to finally join the Bridgertons – the family she always wanted, so Season 4 can give us a Sophie who joins the Bridgertons, the family she needed, right? Right?

Group text fics are not my favorite, but there’s something so endearing about the way this one manages to bring all the Bridgertons together AND give us a Benophie that makes sense in a modern setting. Also, yes, I fully believe there is a version of that final conversation in every universe.

Finally, we have this little fun Benedict and Sophie find out who Lady Whistledown is because they deserve the tea too! It’s going to go differently in the show, for many other reasons, starting with the fact that Colin and Penelope are going first, but these are the little moments I hope the show expands on. Anyway, I always figured this is exactly how Sophie would have reacted.
