In a Violent Nature is the “enigmatic resurrection, rampage, and retribution of an undead monster in a remote wilderness” that “unleashes an iconic new killer.” And from the first poster, it seems like a cookie-cutter movie we’ve seen time and time again. Serial killer in the forest + young victims = slasher gorey goodness. But what makes this movie different is that it’s told from the POV of the killer. With reviews calling it “innovative,” “fertile ground for cinematic innovation,” and “a breath of fresh air” it’s easy to be excited for this horror movie in a sea of the same ol’ horror tropes we’ve been fed by Hollywood.
IFC Films recently dropped a new featurette where we get to see more footage from the film. In it, we continuously follow the killer’s journey from behind as he terrorizes young men and women. All of this happens in what looks like a forest, complete with a lakeside dock and young people living their lives. And just like the initial trailer, this new featurette makes us excited for this twist on a ‘murderer in the forest’ iconic storyline we’ve come to know from Friday the 13th to Sleepaway Camp.
