The producers of Gen V have finally confirmed what’s going to happen to Chance Perdomo‘s character after his passing on March 30, 2024. Perdomo was traveling through Upstate New York when he had a motorcycle accident. He was 27. He was set to start in season 2 of the Prime Video series. And after a lot of speculation from fans, the producers of Gen V have finally confirmed that they’re not going to recast Perdomo.
Perdomo played Andre Anderson. He was the son of Polarity and attended Godolkin University. He had the weight of his father being a hero making him feel unsure as to the direction he wanted to take in life. His powers included magnetism manipulation, superhuman strength, superhuman durability, and superhuman healing. And with Andre being the father of Polarity, many were concerned about where Andre’s storyline would go while also (mostly) respecting that Perdomo has passed.
On the official Gen V account, the producers said, “As we continue to navigate the tragic loss of Chance Perdomo, everyone at Gen V is determined to find the best way to pay respect to his memory.” They went on to say, “We won’t be recasting the role, because no one can replace Chance. Instead, we have been taking the time and space to recraft our Season 2 storylines as we begin production in May.”
This statement basically means that they’re going to honor Perdomo in the same way shows and movies have done with other actors who have passed like Chadwick Boseman and Adan Canto. Not the killing off part of their characters. What they’re going to do is continue Andre’s story, the journey his character has been on, and the way that his character has shifted this world of The Boys. That makes it so even if Perdomo is gone, he won’t be forgotten by those who watched his character on TV or those who worked with him.
Gen V season 1 is available on Prime Video.
