What is earth shattering money to you? Right now, if we’re being honest, any amount of money would be life changing to this writer. Inflation is not kind. For Chris Pine, he talked his salary for The Princess Diaries 2 and how it was “life changing” for him.
And if we’re being honest, there is a time where this would have surprised us, but we truly would pass out at this amount of money, so we do get it. The actor was speaking to Today and talked about being cast as Nicholas Devereaux in the 2004 iconic film The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement .
“It was the height of summer and I was getting off at Magnolia. I was on my little Verizon tiny little flip phone, my silver one and I got a call from my agents that I booked the job,” he started, “I pulled over onto the side of the freeway and they said, ‘You’re getting paid $65,000,’ And it was like they had just told me I’d made $50 million. It was absolutely Earth-shattering.”
He continued, “I got that $65,000 and I just remember distinctly knowing in that moment that my life had changed somehow, even though $60,000 at the end of the day turned out to be about $15,000. That lasted no time at all.”
We had to laugh at the last bit that he added, “And I owed my parents rent money. But that is a wild feeling. I’ll never forget that.”
We would never forget that either. That is definitely something life changing – the money and well, owing parents rent.
