Beetlejuice Beetlejuice sees Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton return to a beloved world. And while the teaser trailer and first photos only touched on what we were going to be getting this time around, the official trailer didn’t hold back, setting up an epic sequel with many throwbacks and new twists.
In the official trailer we find out that Charles, previously played by Jeffrey Jones, has passed. The family mourns his death, with Jenna Ortega‘s character Astrid making a comment about how living is hard. And despite her mother’s warnings not to say the iconic demon’s name, she does, figuring it’s a joke. It’s not. And the demon makes his return, promising to give Ryder’s Lydia the life she deserves.
As the trailer goes on, Astrid is clearly taken against her will to the afterlife. And we speculate that Lydia teams up with Keaton’s Beetlejuice to get her daughter. But he wouldn’t help for nothing. He needs help himself as Monica Bellucci‘s Delores and Williem Dafoe‘s Wolf Jackson is after him. If we’re being honest, maybe they were the ones to kidnap Astrid as a means of getting to Beetlejuice after that one shot where a desk in the underworld shows a picture of Lydia on a desk.
Clearly Beetlejuice is obsessed with the one that got away and Lydia is going to figure this all out and save her daughter no matter what.
