Jacob Anderson is a man of many talents, and playing the vampire Louis in the AMC series Interview With The Vampire isn’t the only one. Anderson is also a talented musician who goes by the name Raleigh Ritchie.
Just to give you some information on Jacob Anderson, the musician his stage name Raleigh Ritchie, comes from his two favorite characters, Raleigh and Ritchie, from the Wes Anderson film The Royal Tenenbaums. He’s released several EPs and two albums: You’re A Man Now, Boy, which came out in 2016, and Andy, which came out in 2020. I love Anderson’s music. The lyrics are deep and meaningful, and the songs stay with you because they are so relatable. But what I love most is that you can’t define his music. It doesn’t fit in one specific genre, and that’s what makes his music so unique. Anderson’s music has a little bit of everything. It has some pop elements, hip hop, and R&B. But there’s another sound that isn’t as easy to define. It just is.
Anderson is preparing to release a new EP titled Dead Ends And Diversions in July, a collection of songs he loves but has never released. I’m super excited about this because we haven’t had new drops from Anderson in a minute, so this EP is right on time. Anderson’s first single, “Love Is Dumb,” was just released, and we’ve had it on repeat. The song is self-explanatory and all about being so in love that you’ll do anything for the person. We have to admit it also feels a bit Interview With The Vampire coded.
With poignant lyrics like “There’s too much blood in my veins, hot, red, blood. There’s too much love on my brain, hot, red, love. You’re cold-blooded and calculated. You give nothing away, but I’ll take it”, it’s hard not to draw parallels with Louis and Lestat’s tumultuous, passionate, and complicated relationship. While we don’t have the exact timeline of when “Love Is Dumb” was crafted, its release during the airing of season two of Interview With The Vampire is perfect.
In addition to releasing a new EP, Anderson will perform two nights in London on July 30th and 31st. On night one, he will perform “You’re A Man Now, Boy,” and on night two, he’ll perform “Andy.” Night one is already sold out, so if you live in London and want to experience a live performance of one of these albums, your best bet is night two. Trust us, if he were performing here in the US, we’d already have our tickets. Here’s hoping he does decide to put on a show or two out here if possible. But, for now, we’ll keep replaying “Love Is Dumb.”
