Perfect Match season 2 has landed on Netflix and it’s as unhinged as you probably think. Reality stars from shows like Too Hot to Handle, Dated & Related, Love is Blind, and more enter a villa in Mexico in search of “love.” Hosted by Nick Lachey, the set of recognizable faces try to find their perfect match while doing compatibility tests. And like every reality TV show, the drama follows with a healthy dose of moments that we can’t stop thinking; from the out-of-pocket to the funny and the toxic. Here are our top 10 unforgettable moments from Perfect Match season 2 episodes 7-9!
And don’t forget to check out of best moments list for episodes 1-6 here!
1. Jessica showing her true colors in the confrontation with Melinda
Jessica truly transformed into one of those girls who defends her cheating and lying partner and hits back at the other woman instead. She even went as far to imply that Melinda was not a “lady” and that she recounted what happened as a “public service announcement.” Jessica asked a question and Melinda answered it. If anything, she needed to bring that same energy to Harry instead of letting him scamper off like a coward. Let’s stop making excuses for mediocre men, especially ones like Harry who continually gaslight and manipulate the partners they supposedly want to marry.
2. The editing on how committed Harry is to Jessica
The Netflix production team is especially messy in season 2 of Perfect Match. Because what was the reason for interspersing Harry talking about how he wanted to go home to Jessica and how much he loved her with him doing body shots off Melinda?! Drama! That was the reason. Impeccable editing from the Netflix team. Kudos to them. That really stirred the pot and gave us even more perspective on Harry. Because these were his words on how he was so in trouble with all these beautiful women around him. That was his face sucking on someone’s stomach while talking about how dedicated he is to someone else. Netflix just put it together and tied a bow on top.
3. Xanthi having the women’s backs no matter what
On multiple occasions, Xanthi had the women’s backs in these episodes. So this is more of a multi-part moment. Xanthi had their backs when Chris was flirting with her during the boys outing, the look on her face clearly saying that she was going to bring this back to the girls. Then there was when Kaz was arguing with Micah and Xanthi was ready to square up because she heard yelling. And let’s not forget how she had no problem talking to Tolú and Chris when he was trying to recount his side of the things. She said her piece and then walked away. Xanthi has no desire to get back into the Perfect Match house. But she’ll be there for her girls. And that says a lot about who she is, and is someone that Jessica could learn from.
4. Bryton making his way back into the house
Bryton continues to be the absolute worst. In the first batch of episodes he was so narcissistic in the way that he treated Dominique. And in these batch of episodes he didn’t care for anyone. He was still the same manipulative person but times 10. He wanted to get into the house and he didn’t care if he had to talk to Micah or Elyse. And he wasn’t even trying to hide it. That’s the part that gets me. He was upfront about wanting to stay in the house and women still chose him. Which, to each their own but damn. That man is a snake.
5. Stevan messing with Alara
Stevan and Alara kind of have me in a choke cold. Because I know that this is reality TV, and it’s all manipulated in one form or another, but I can’t help but cheer for these two. They’re unproblematic and really complement each other. And the tiny bit of drama that they had was due to Stevan pulling Alara’s leg in a joke that fits for them as a couple but that would have me slapping their shoulder and asking them “what the hell were you thinking pretending like you kissed someone else?!” before bursting into laughter. They work and I don’t want to be bamboozled again by garbage television. But you know I will be.
6. Justin walking out
I barely remember Justin in Perfect Match season 2. But kudos to him for drawing a line in the sand when Elyse picked Bryton. He made his intentions clear with her and he thought that she was on the same page. She wasn’t and he decided to walk away. It’s his prerogative and he does not need to alleviate Elyse’s guilt because she’s not here to find her perfect match despite being on a show titled Perfect Match. And I think he kind of saved himself because I really did not like how Elyse got in his way and tried to stop him after they’ve only known each other for a couple weeks. Also, good on him for telling her to not touch him. People’s space and boundaries are their own.
7. The whole carrying Melinda thing
Being who I am, I went back and looked at the scene where Harry was carrying Melinda. Despite what Melinda said happened, she was wearing shoes. She could have walked to the bathroom. She chose not to and Harry chose to carry her. They are both problematic and I’m suspicious of both of them. It doesn’t mean that Melinda deserved the rudeness that Jessica brought in the confrontation between them all oater on. But something is fishy here. Unless Netflix photoshopped some green shoes on Melinda’s feet. Which, this is the time of artificial intelligence and nothing is real.
8. Micah choosing Izzy
Micah has never desired a man less than when she was asking Izzy to match up with her on Perfect Match. She tried to soften the blow by making it seem like he was someone who knew her. This flies in the face of her being truly uncomfortable with him when he knew all these things about her from the get-go. Be honest, girl. You just wanted to stay in the house and be there when Kaz woke up with his new match. Either way, Izzy’s face during the matchup says so much but I’m having trouble finding the words at his lackluster but still enthusiastic reaction. It’s a mystery.
9. Trevor’s description as “single when convenient”
The Netflix production team strikes again with their out of pocket introduction card for Trevor. They even threw in a flashback of the reunion and him getting caught in a lie. It was a clever way to show fans that had never watched Love is Blind who he was. But it was so messy. My only regret is that he didn’t really try or we didn’t see him try. So he was there for 2 seconds and then gone the next. But for some reason I think he would probably be worse than Izzy.
10. Chris turning the manipulation on Tolú
Like Xanthi, I really like Tolú. She seems like she knows what kind of person she is and what she wants. And I’m really upset that Chris went and turned on these gaslighting tears and manipulation to get her to match up with him. She’s a grown woman who can make her own decisions and mistakes. But I can still feel some sort of way that Harry is getting all this hate for being a narcissist when Chris is also right there and deserves the same kind of energy.
Perfect Match season 2 episodes 1-9 are now available on Netflix. Episode 10 comes out on June 21st.
