One Piece season 2 has finally started production!
The announcement was made by Netflix in the form of a reunion video between the cast core cast members: Iñaki Godoy, Emily Rudd, Mackenyu, Jacob Romero, and Taz Skylar. They used a map to show the actors locations all over the world with the skull and crossbones as the marker with matching videos of the cast excited. All of them were flying to South Africa, where the show is filmed.
Godoy was the first to arrive with Mackenyu, Rudd, Romero, and Skylar following after. All of them greeted each other with big hugs. Godoy and Romero were especially excited to see each other, giving off best friend vibes. And Skylar got emotional hugging Rudd, saying these were “tears of joy.” It’s clear to see that the cast as a whole has bonded greatly in season 1 and they’re looking forward to what awaits them on The Grand Line.
Based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga and animated series, it tells the story of a ragtag group of friends as they encounter pirates, adventure, and so much more on the open sea. And when it premiered in 2023, fans were rightfully skeptical. We’ve been duped by Dragon Ball Z, Ghost in the Shell, and Death Note adaptations. A bit of healthy skepticism is real. But when the show premiered, even long-time fans were shocked at the love, care, and dedication that was put into the series.
Here’s hoping that love and dedication carries onto season 2!
