Netflix is back with another season of The Mole. This reality TV show takes a bunch of contestants and puts a cash prize at the end of a bunch of challenges. The big twist is that one of the players is secretly sabotaging the group. And as the season goes on they’re supposed to weed out this person and figure out “who is the mole?”
Season 1 of the series was a surprising success in a wide media landscape of reality TV shows. And with season 2 premiering its first to five episodes on Netflix, there’s plenty to talk about as to who we think is the mole. Because we subscribe to the Dwight Schrute school of suspecting people. It’s not who you most suspect or least suspect that is the one causing mayhem. It’s the one you medium suspect.
So here’s our ranking for The Mole season 2 episodes 1 through 5 and who we think is the saboteur!
Least Suspect

Michael
Michael is too obvious. He’s enjoying the game and has been revealed in that behind the scenes video to know how to lie and have a plan on what he’s going to do in season 2. But what makes me least suspect him as the saboteur is that the Netflix editing team chose that specific part of his audition process to air. He’s a red herring.
Sean
Sean is also another person who is a little bit too obvious. He feels like the perfect casting choice by Netflix to have everyone’s eyes drawn to him. Because of their focus on the retired undercover cop then they’re focusing less on other people’s attributes, what they bring to the table, or what they’re hiding in the first place. And the real mole? Well, they have free reign to be me messy.
Medium Suspect

Neesh
Neesh volunteering in episode 1 to possibly be eliminated is the main reason he is in the median suspect of this post. But that more has to do with the fact that he immediately took it back when he found out that the head was on the chopping block. It could have legitimately been a strategic move by him to throw people off his scent. But a part of me believes he’s self-centered enough to honestly think he’s the best choice to lead everyone.
Ryan
Ryan is someone who definitely flew under my radar because she felt like a team player until she was at that table and lied during the exemption and money game. She slipped into that a little bit too easily and left me side eyeing her. If she could lie so easily then what else is she hiding? And what else have I not noticed in the background when everyone is so focused on the obvious red herrings?
Muna
Muna is my chaotic Queen. I love how she’s subverting expectations of what a woman that looks like her should act. And she can lie like no one else’s business. But I do have a soft spot for her because of her commitment to her family and what she brings to the group outside of chaos. But maybe part of subverting expectations is being the saboteur in a long game?
Most Suspect

Hannah
I feel like Hannah is doing to me what she did to her eliminated boy toy Tony. She’s using the audience to act like she’s innocent and can bat her eyes at us to make us do what she wants. But I’m not falling for that like Tony did. And there’s something about the way that she flip-flops between devious to shocked that comes easy to her. It’s sus.
Deanna
Deanna is giving me “trust me I’m a mother” kind of vibes. Like someone who could comfort me in a time of need and then go mama bear if someone comes at me. She feels like comfort and honesty. And that’s one of the reasons why I suspect her so much. It’s the people who make you let your guard down that can easily stab you in the back while you’re not looking.
Quaylyn
I feel like Quaylyn is one of the biggest misdirects of The Mole season 2. While Michael is loud and boisterous about his deception, Quaylyn is pointed with his comments to keep the team together for that cash prize at the end. It’s a little one dimensional and there’s this desperation to keep the money that feels like a caricature from the plenty of reality TV shows that I’ve watched over the years.
Conclusion: Who do I think is the mole?
Neesh. I medium suspect him. And I can’t stop thinking about how he immediately volunteered in episode one. It was a gamble for Netflix if they lost their mole. But what’s to say that the new contestants weren’t his replacement as saboteur?!

The Mole season 2 episodes 1-5 are now on Netflix. New episodes drop July 5, 2024.
