Moana. Whether it be Moana 2 or the upcoming live action movie, we love to hear all about it. Sometimes a movie is just so special that you will follow every bit of news that comes with the movies.
Dwayne Johnson gave the latest update on Instagram, “Exciting and inspiring casting news as we begin to bring together our Live Action MOANA Family.”
He continued by listing the cast, Catherine Laga‘aia will be playing Moana, alongside New Zeleand actors John Tui and Frankie Adams who will play Moana’s father and mother, respectively. Cast as Gramma Tala is Rena Owen, who also hails from New Zeleand. Dwayne Johnson will be returning as the Demigod, Maui.
After he listed them, he continued by saying, “It’s our deepest honor to share the legends, songs, dances and traditions of our Polynesian culture with all of you and your families around the world.”
He ended the post by saying, “Production begins this August.”
The live action Moana will arrive in theaters on July 10, 2026.
