Matthew Fox is heading back to TV. The Lost alum blew up thanks to the 2004 series on ABC. But ever since then, he’s kept it pretty lowkey. He had small 5 movie roles between 2012 to 2015. Then there was a huge jump where he did no projects for 7 years. At that time he starred in the mini-series Last Light and C*A*U*G*H*T. Now he’s heading to Max.
According to Deadline, Fox has signed on to the John Glenn (SEAL Team) show The Assasin. Set as a drama, it’s based on the book by British novelist Tom Wood and will be airing on Max. It tells the story of Victor, played by Fox, who is a merciless assassin betrayed by a client that leads him to be chased all over the world by multiple enemies. Some of those enemies include CIA operative and even a contract killer.
As for the novelist Wood, he’s written eleven novels and two short stories centered around this character. So there’s plenty of material to work with that gives this show a surviving chance past season 1. The book that this show is based on is called The Killer in the US and The Hunter in the UK. And from this tagline alone of “Forget James Bond. Forget Jason Bourne. Forget Jack Bauer. Meet Victor” you know there’s going to be a lot of action for Fox.
Glenn, who will serve as showrunner, exec produces alongside Fox and Wood.
