One show that we’re looking forward to this month is Matlock. We have a feeling that this show is going to be different than we expect. We love to be surprised and love a story about second chances.
We think that Matlock will be somewhat about second chances. Kathy Bates’s character of Matlock is older and returning to the law. It’s a chance to right wrongs, make things right, and live. Matlock isn’t just existing, she’s LIVING.
Before Matlock, Bates had thought that she was done with acting after a bad experience on a set. She won’t say what it was – however, that’s something to admire her for. We’d roast whoever hurt us.
But alas we’re not Kathy Bates and we haven’t had a career like she has. Bates is an icon. She deserves to be treated with respect so whomever was mean to her – not cool.
The actress was interviewed by the New York Times and was talking about Matlock. She said, “This is my last dance.”
Even though the actress had been planning on retiring, when her agent sent her the script for Matlock she was so moved by it, she had to do it.
“Everything I’ve prayed for, worked for, clawed my way up for, I am suddenly able to be asked to use all of it,” she went on to say of the series. “And it’s exhausting.”
Along with Bates, Matlock stars Jason Ritter, Skye P. Marshall, and Beau Bridges.
Matlock is a remake of the 1980’s original – where Matlock, a lawyer who had achieved previous success, returns to practicing law. CBS is very invested in the show, having given it an 18-episode order.
Matlock will premiere on CBS on September 22nd.
