It’s good to see Ariana Grande‘s Glinda, isn’t it? Universal Pictures dropped a 30-second Wicked movie featurette all about Glinda the Good on Wednesday night. It may be short, but it’s full of sweet moments we loved.
A Popular Promo to Please

This Wicked Glinda promo delivered lines and scenes from the stage musical that will please die-hard fans of the hit Broadway show. We have momentarily seen Glinda’s iconic hair toss with Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo). But this video features it in authentic action when she first meets Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) and asks, “Are you looking for something? Or someone?” Then there’s the scene of Glinda attempting to use her training wand on Elphaba. This video was the best glimpse we’ve gotten so far at how much the Wicked movie lines up with the musical in terms of the script. It’s pretty on par so far — probably thanks to Ariana Grande herself!
Wicked Whimsy with Glinda the Good Witch
Many of the Wicked movie teasers and trailers released so far focus on Wicked being a Wizard of Oz prequel and/or Elphaba’s origin story. Though Glinda is the female lead right up there with Elphaba, we haven’t seen much that shows who her character is or what she’s like beyond her relationship with Elphaba. But now, that’s changed.

It’s only 30-seconds, but the Wicked Glinda featurette excellently depicts her comedic presence throughout the story. Yes, Wicked is a heartfelt story of the two witches. Yes, Wicked is an emotional, moving tale of how Elphaba’s misunderstood. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t full of comedy, because it is. (At least the stage version which much of it is based on is.) And a lot of that comes from Glinda. Just as pink goes good with green, Glinda’s more humorous, playful personality balances out Elphaba’s more serious, reserved demeanor. Whether it was Glinda checking herself out in the mirror or her toss toss, this got us more excited to see the comedic chops Ariana Grande’s Glinda brings to the table.
Fangirling Over Fiyero in Wicked Glinda Promo

We know this is supposed to be about Glinda, but we can’t help but be excited over the new Fiyero footage this Wicked Glinda spot gave us. After all, Glinda is a fangirl just like us, so we don’t think she’d mind! From seeing Fiyero stand in the archway telling Glinda she’s good or him reacting to her attempt at a pick-up line, we are here for it.
Dancing Through Life with Glinda the Good
Though it is indeed a movie musical, the Wicked movie promo videos haven’t shown a great deal of dancing or singing. This Wicked featurette doesn’t either, but it’s still exciting to see some dance moves on display — be it a high kick in the hallway or an arabesque on the railing.

Ariana Grande is known worldwide for her singing and vocal ability, but this video gives us a glimpse at her dance ability. It might just be two quick clips, but this isn’t a music video or concert choreography. This is musical theater. A grand battement and an arabesque? That is ballet. That is technique and training. And if seeing is believing, call us believers, because we know Ariana Grande put in work to get this dream role.
Wicked part one is in theaters Nov. 22.
