One of the most important things that we believe that Selena Gomez does is being open and honest about her health issues. Her willingness to discuss her health and all of the things that go along with it is not only courageous, it is life changing.
We make the assumption that it is life changing to her, but we can account that it is life changing to so many others. This writer included. Recently, at a Women in Film dinner, the superstar spoke about why she is so open about her health.
“I truly believe that there is power in being vulnerable and telling people when you need help and when you want help,” she said, “That is not shameful. So, yeah, I shared that I can’t carry a child. Yeah, I shared I have bipolar.”

“So yeah I shared that I can’t carry a child. Yeah I shared I have bipolar. F*CK OFF! That’s what my life is. That’s who I am. Screw anyone who tells you you’re a victim. You’re a survivor in my book.” pic.twitter.com/ANdGUXqpDL
“I only want to be an advocate for women and that’s why I share. That’s why I like to be honest, because everybody is going through something.”
She also said, “I’m me and that’s all I can be. So do not let anyone tell you that you are not a good person…screw anyone who tells you you’re a victim. You’re a survivor in my book.”
We couldn’t agree more. We want to know though, what do you think about Selena being so open about her mental and physical health struggles?
