Everyone is obsessed with royalty. Real or fictional. That’s kinda why The Empress Season 1 was such a breath of fresh air. It was royalty, yes. And actual royalty. But it wasn’t the same story about royals we knew. But it was real royalty! It was kinda like the best of both worlds. Only real history buffs knew about the Austrian empire (me, I am those), the rest could just be along for the ride.
And now comes season 2, and with it …well, we’re out of the nice courtship and the first moments past the marriage of Elizabeth and Franz, and now they need an heir. And they need one pronto. That is pretty much the reality of royalty. Otherwise, things are going to get bad, for their marriage and for the country. So how do they cope? I can’t tell you, even though I know the history! You’re going to have to find out.
For now, here is the trailer for The Empress: Season 2:
As the first storm has hardly passed, Elisabeth is already facing the next trial: not only is the future of her family, but that of an entire empire resting on her shoulders. The Empress: Season 2, starting November 22, only on Netflix.
