Shrinking will return for another season! Apple TV+ has renewed the global hit comedy co-created by Jason Segel, Bill Lawrence, and Brett Goldstein for a third season. This renewal comes on the heels of its sophomore season’s two-episode premiere – Shrinking Season 2, Episode 1, “Jimmying,” and Shrinking Season 2, Episode 2, “I Love Pain,” – on Wednesday, October 16, on Apple TV+.
Creators Segel and Goldstein and stars Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell, and Ted McGinley shared the exciting news at New York Comic Con on Thursday, October 17. They appeared at the Main Stage for a special discussion around all things Shrinking Season 2. Lawrence celebrated the news on X (formerly Twitter) by writing, “Cool,” but he also shared a longer statement.

“I’m so lucky to work on Shrinking with actors, writers, and a crew so talented that they all elevate the material. I’m even luckier that they are people I’d want to spend time with anyway,” said co-creator and executive producer Bill Lawrence. “Huge thanks to Apple TV+ and Warner Bros. for the amazing partnership and support. So grateful we get to keep making this show. Onward!”
Apple TV+ shared a clip on X, presumably from an upcoming episode, as it’s not in the first two episodes, of Jimmy and Brian visiting Grace in prison. Jimmy jumps around with Brian and says, “This is amazing,” while Brian says, “I did it. I won.” Grace doesn’t seem as pleased with whatever news the two are celebrating. But, in the context of this news, a renewal this early in Season 2 is certainly something for which Shrinking fans can jump for joy.
“It has been wonderful to watch audiences around the world fall in love with the memorable characters and rich world that Bill, Brett, and Jason have created in Shrinking,” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+. “We are incredibly excited for viewers to see where life takes Jimmy, Paul, Liz, Gabby, Alice, Sean, Brian, and Derek next as they continue on their moving, heartwarming, and very funny journey in season three,” Cherniss added.

Shrinking stars Segel as a therapist named Jimmy Laird, who is grieving his wife and starts breaking all the training and ethics rules to find a new, often tumultuous way of changing people’s lives. The comedy’s cast also includes Harrison Ford in one of his first TV roles. Shrinking Season 2 sees co-creator and Ted Lasso star and writer Brett Goldstein join the series in a guest-starring role. Trust us; his character’s identity is best discovered when watching the show. New episodes stream every Wednesday on Apple TV+, and because the season is only two episodes into its run, there is plenty of time to catch up.
Warner Bros. produces Shrinking for Apple TV+, where Lawrence and Goldstein are under overall deals. Lawrence, Segel, Goldstein, Neil Goldman, James Ponsoldt, Jeff Ingold, Liza Katzer, Randall Winston, Annie Mebane, Rachna Fruchbom, and Brian Gallivan all serve as executive producers. Ashley Nicole Black and Bill Posley will be executive producers on Shrinking Season 3.
